Update!

Thanks for all the great recommendations - we ended up booking the Hyeholde, which had the date we wanted (december 19), has good food, and also a fireplace! The list is 80 people, and its a cozy little place. I loooved the Mayernick center, but it seemed like a lot of work to do since it's catered and you'd have to bring in the linens, dishes, etc, and I'm trying to minimize that sort of stuff/additional planning. I'm still looking for a photographer but I have a lot of good recommendations on that as well. My issue now: DJ. I suppose I will need one to play music for the ceremony (processional and recessional, right?) and I'm looking for any info. I have been to so many weddings where a terrible DJ has really soured the event, so I'm nervous. I just don't want the cheesy-obnoxious thing going on, and I really want someone to respect the play list and do not play list. Thoughts? Thanks!

I used Bob Hartnett as my DJ to do exactly what you said (he played during my ceremony and my reception). It worked out great! Info in bio if you need it!

Glad you found a reception site!  :)I always recommend Jason Hitt with Big Day Entertainment.  He is a great DJ!

My wedding is next month, so I can't say for sure, but I already love my DJ.  We have Steve Credo from Rockin' Bob's.  We clicked over the phone and when we met him and he was very respectful of what we do and don't want played.  We're really excited.  I'll be happy to report back after the wedding too!

I'm jealous! I wanted to go with the Hyeholde, but we had 120 people, so no go. Congratulations! Andy Booth is a GREAT DJ and will work with whatever you want. He is a true professional.

Congrats on choosing a location! I had my reception right down the street at Montour Heights Country Club! My DJ was also Bob Hartnett. He was amazing and I'd recommend him to anyone!

nina--check the link I just posted in a page to 26summer, who had mentioned needing a dj in the bridal show post. They are awesome and fun people, tons of selections, I'm sure they'd work with you. As I told 26, the only reason they aren't my djs is because they will be guests.

i'm using dj bill bara-i went to HS with him. he has been dj'ing at the clubs around town (matrix, town tavern, barroom, etc.) but also does weddings and proms. i wanted someone who uses online music, rather than cd's, and also someone that wasn't as old as my parents, so bill was a perfect match! he just did another knottie's wedding, and she said he was beyond amazing. i'm pumped! http://www.creativenightlife.net/home_about.html

I adoreeee Bob from Xela Sound.  It's so nice and funny and professional - all in one! And at a very reasonable price. Congrats on the location, too! Sounds nice!

Anyone have an estimate on some of the price ranges for the djs?  I looked at a couple sites and they do not list prices online. Even in ranges like $500-750, $750-1,000, $1,000+ would be awesome. We're looking to stay in a particular budget range and that might help me in eliminating/contacting some over others. TIA.

Pirata, mine was bundled with video (he did both for us) but I think DJ alone was about $700 in the off-season. Does that sound right, Jen?

My DJ is $600, and for him to do from 3:30 (during cocktail) til 10 (end of reception) so I figured that was a good price.

Kristen - that sounds about right. I really don't remember the exact breakdown since I had the video package as well, but I was going to guess around 800 or so.

kwynn--thanks. out of curiosity, what was it approximately for dj & video?  again, a price range is fine if you don't want to quote exacts.hey its jenn--that is a REALLY good price for the time you are getting. Our reception will be from 4-9pm.  My friends charge $500 for 5 hours which is awesome, but like I said they will be guests.  But the $500-750 range is about what we're looking for.  You'll have to let me know how it goes--we have some different things planned in regards to the Old Hollywood theme and other quirky things, so we really want someone who is going to play along and have fun with it.  Thanks for the info, ladies!

Pirata, I don't mind giving exact dollar figures if someone asks. There are multiple packages, but mine was full coverage, 5 DVD's and a Blu-Ray disc (all HD) with 2 videographers and included DJ for about $2500-2800. I think it may have been the top package, but I'm not sure.I had my wedding in the off-season though, so they were more willing to work with me on price. Also, I used to work with Bob frequently when doing weddings, so he cut me a good deal, IMO. I could have probably done the 3 DVD package and been just fine as well.HTH!

Thank you all very much! I just placed about 4 phone calls! I appreciate it and will let you know where we end up. I somehow stumbled across some other photog recs and sites via these DJ sites, so that was helpful too! Thanks!
