Re: first dance song

  • Nobody Loves Me Like You Do...Anne Murray!Such a beautiful song...the lyrics are amazing!
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • The Luckiest - Ben Folds After we began dating I heard the song and it made me think of him. During our first time away from one another I sent it to him and its been "our song" ever since (sorry that is so cheesy).

  • We are dancing to Awake by Secondhand Serenade. Pretty unique. We choose it because it is a very "us" song...We were going to dance to Love of My Life by Michael W. Smith, but when we heard Awake we thought it fit us better. Our parents disagree and don't really like our first dance song choice, but oh well. We're happy with it :)
  • Love of a Lifetime by Fire House will be our first dance song. Why? This is my FI first wedding and my last, since we both found our soulmate. Our Wedding will be very unconventional. I am walking to "I don't want to Miss a  Thing" from Aerosmith and we will leave to 'Forever Road" from Darius Rucker.
  • Frank Sinatra's Just The Way You Look, it has always been kind of "our song"  Plus it is short so we don't have to make our wedding party come dance - the bms don't know the gms well and it would be akward, plus we have 1 extra bm.
  • Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers....I have always just loved that song.  And it just reminds me of our life!FI said it was too cliche but DJ said that he has only had that song like once or twice as a first dance song.
  • We are doing Its Your Love by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, its the only song we agree on for our first dance. I'm not a big country fan, but it's growing on me little by little. We do get all sweet and lovey when we hear that song tho, so it should be nice to dance to, as long as I don't cry, thats what im most nervous about.
  • jamiebeth9- YAY for corey smith! we are dancing to "first dance" too
  • Ordinary Miracle - Sarah Maclachlan.  We orginally had another song picked and then when we driving to another wedding "Ordinary Miracle" started playing and I (who am not typically emotional) started crying. FI looked at me and said "I guess thats the song"  It really is a beautiful song and if you don't know it you should listen to it.  The other reason we chose it is that I have been through a lot in my life and it is just this "ordinary miracle" of finding FI that has made things seem like it will be OK.  One line is -- Isn't it exceptional how things work out after all -- that is my favorite line
  • Yours by Blues Traveler. It's been our song since we started dating (over 8 years ago). It's also a little long. I don't think FI would ever agree to shortening it, so we'll probably just have everyone join in.KRHagen - We love The Luckiest by Ben Folds and want to have that played at some point during the reception.
  • A friend of our will be doing an accoustic version of Aerosmith's "I don't want to miss a thing"
  • PiperS, We are also playing the orchestral version of NEM by Metallica, but not for our first dance. Our first dance song is "I'll Always Be Right There" by Bryan Adams. We just happened to hear one day a couple years ago and it's been "our song" ever since. September's Bride: Leona Lewis did a cover of Snow Patrol's "Run" that is beautiful and not as long as the original.
  • "Thank you" by led zeppelinMy FI picked it and I love it, it's short and sweet.
  • All these songs are GREAT ladies!! Sweet picks :o)Ours is going to be "Waltz With Me" by Tonicand our final dance will be Blue Eyes" by the Carey Brothers. I was shocked to not see these lovely tunes posted by you ladies ;oP

  • "Can't Help Falling in Love".  Originally by Elvis, but we are using the Andrea Bocelli/Katharine McPhee version.  Its beautiful.  We thought it appropriate for many reasons most mostly the "only fools rush in" part because we only knew each other for 8 months before becoming engaged!!!
  • FI and I picked "Gotta Be Somebody" By Nickle Back. It fits us, mainly because we found eachother with a little help from eHarmony. We both believe that there was some one out there for us, it just took the right set of circumstances to meet eachother.

  • We both like rock, so I knew I wanted a rock ballad, but I do love the song Joyangela picked, It's Your Love, Faith Hill/Tim McGraw, so that will be our second song when we invite all couples to the dance floor. It was between Tangled Up In You by Staind or All About Loving You by Bon Jovi. We danced to both and picked All About Loving You because it felt right. Our "Song" Is Rendevous by Craig David because he sent me the Lyrics in an email when we first started dating. He was stationed in Germany so it always meant so much to me. But its not really a good song to dance to at a wedding.
  • When FI and I started dated, I asked him what song is "our song" and he's always said Brighter Than Sunshine by Aqualung.  Thats been our song for the past three years, and the song we decided to dance to.Until a couple of weeks ago.  He was listening to the radio at work one day and sent me a text telling me to listen to Bless The Broken Road by Rascal Flatts and maybe that could be our first dance song.  Its a beautiful song and its starting to grow on me as a first dance song.  I also pitched the idea of Only Hope by Mandy Moore.  But he didnt like the idea because he says it reminds him of the movie and that would make him sad.  But I love what the song means. So its between Brighter Than Sunshine, Bless The Broken Road, and Only Hope.  =)
  • Fever by Peggy Lee....a litle sultry but we are both love to dance and are "coordinating" a routine.
  • We were going to have Crystal Village by Pete Yorn since we love that song and it has been instrumental throughout our relationship but then we decided to have that play as I walk down the aisle.  We are going to dance to Baby, Now That I Found You" by Allison Moyet.
  • We're doing "So Close" by John McLaughlin (sp?) from Enchanted.  I fell in love with it the minute I heard it at the movies, and there hasn't been anything else that tops it.  FI agreed to it, and since he only listens to hard rock, he can't come up with anything else. I really wanna do the dance from the movie too, but we'll see if that happens.

  • maybe you can find an acoustic version? and, you can always edit it so it's not as long. or, you could include the bridal party dance in it. like dance to half of it alone and then have the bridal party join you? hope that helps :)we used "then" by brad paisley for most of the same reasons as you. brad paisley has been important to our relationship for quite some time and the song is perfect.it is most important to do what matters to you and not worry about what every one else thinks...use metallica if it is important to you. it is your wedding!!
  • We're dancing to Lucky By Jason Mraz and Colbie Callait. Our original us song is "Why Don't You and I" by Alex Band (or Chad Kroger, but we like the Alex version better) and Carols Santana. Lucky really fits us because we moved away to the obx, but are having the wedding back home in MD, and theres alot of lyrics like "across the water across the deep blue ocean" and "lucky to be going home again" plus, we're best friends, so it works! aww *cheesey*
  • Our song will be "I just can't stop loving you"-by Michael Jackson. I think the last song we will dance to will be "Speechless" by Michael as well. It is a real pretty song! You should listen to both!!
  • Our first dance song will be "Into the Mystic" by Van Morrison.  The song has great significance for the two of us.  When we first started hanging out as "just friends," and I would sit with his (now, our) puppy while he was visiting his father in a nursing home, I would listen to the Moondance CD over and over. When he'd come home from the nursing home, we'd listen to his favorite song on the CD,"Into the Mystic," and unwind.  It was a refuge song.  When we started dating, we'd listen to it when we'd ride on his motorcycle or while we were eating dinner.  Whenever the song was on, it meant that it was just the two of us, we could count on one another, and there was peace for a moment in otherwise hectic lives.  Who knew that a song could mean that much? If there is a song like that for your fiance and you, you should definitely choose that. • We are dancing to Johnny and June by Heidi Newfield.  We both listen to mostly rock and alternative, but most of that doesn't work for weddings.  We didn't want a super mushy, or super slow, song.  Johnny and June has been an easy choice from the start.
  • We are dancing to an acoustic version of "Heaven" by Bryan Adams.
  • My fiance and I are dancing to Matthew West's When I Say I Do. The song is beautiful. When I heard for the first time I fell in love with it. The lyrics were beautiful and the song basically said exactly the way I felt about him. I later had him listen to it and he loves it too. It is a great song!!!!
  • Somebody by Depeche Mode
  • We're planning on having "Somos Novios" by Andrea Bocelli and Christina Aguilera.  I always thought it was a pretty song (although I couldn't understand what it said in spanish), and FI is Peurto Rican so it fits!  I finally googled the words and its about being a couple.I don't want anything too too emotional because I don't want to cry!
