  • 1. Hi I'm Jack and I am addicted to food (LOL)2. To be able to run a mile by December3. Eating - trying to find the right mix of carbs and proteins so that I can make a life change and not be on a diet for the rest of my life.4. My BF destination wedding, not being able to run with DS.5. I started working out and making better choices.6. Look in the mirror and see my double chin and my hanging belly.7. Yes and No.
  • 1.  Katie 2.  Lose 30 pounds and tone up. 3.  My hour long commute cuts into work out time.  Also, the bus schedule is not conducive to trying to fit a work out in at work at any other time but lunch. 4.  Figuring out how much weight I gained in law school and then studying for the bar.  Blech.5.  Getting into a good schedule for lunch time workouts (which I hope to get back into once I am back on-site at work again August 31st!).6.  Going to WW meetings.  Getting a star.  YOU GUYS!!7.  Yes.  My parents and sister are all fit.  FI and I are working on it!
  • Hi, Im Shera. I would like to be in better shape generally. Initally I would like to lose the 35lbs gained since I have known FI. Another 10-15 after that would be great. The hardest hurdle has been a stream of medical problems that I am finally getting under control. I was motivated by wedding dress shopping but it is mostly about getting healthy. My biggest accomplishment has been getting up early in the mornings to work out even if it is just for 20 min. I look at bridal magazines and read this board to stay motivated. Hearing what everyone else is doing is the best. My friends and family are 100% supportive and FI and I are doing this together.
  • 1) Introduce yourself Casandra2) What are your fitness goals? I'd like to lose about 3 more lbs or so, but the biggest thing is to keep myself exercising and eating healthy amongst all the turmoil that is the last month or so of wedding planning.  I know I can keep it up when I have time on my hands, as is evidenced by the initial 54 lbs of weight loss, but I've been bouncing around in the same 5 lbs for the last few months due mainly to stress eating.3) What has been the hardest hurdle youve encountered in your fitness journey? Keeping myself motivated when I'm stressed, by far.  I'm attempting to keep myself motivated by planning to run a 5 Miler the Sunday before my wedding, and it's kinda working.4) What motivated you to start getting in shape? I just hit that breaking point back in 2007 that I decided it was time to get healthy.  I was unhappy and just didn't feel great about myself.  It had nothing to do with anyone or anything other than myself, which I think was what worked best for me.  I had no timetable or deadline, it was just time to get healthy.5) Greatest GIS accomplishment, thus far? Diet-wise, joining WW.  It was the first time I made a real, concrete move towards being healthy.  Fitness-wise, running a 3.5 mile run this past Sunday only having to stop to stretch my leg out halfway through the run.  AND getting myself moving again.  I think the moving again is the most important thing about that.6) How do you stay motivated? Mainly remembering that I don't want to go backwards.  I'm where I am today by doing what I can to keep healthy.  That is my biggest motivation, not wanting to be where I was the fall of 2007, before I started WW.7) Do your family/friends support your GIS goals? FI is 100% behind me in everything, it's wonderful.  My family is supportive, but in a more passive way.  Instead of praising me and congratulating me, they ask me what I can/can't eat at family gatherings and meals, which I appreciate, and they find ways to let me do what I need to do.  Two good friends are on WW as well, and that works - most of the time - and my college friends that don't live as close are also supportive.
  • 1) Introduce yourself. Hi. My name is Missy. 2) What are your fitness goals? I would really like to get into a size 6 again and lose 43 pounds. 3) What has been the hardest hurdle youve encountered in your fitness journey? Getting up in the morning and working out. Changing my eating habits again. I do well for a while and then fall back into my old habits. 4) What motivated you to start getting in shape? My wedding and I saw a picture of myself and could not believe how much weight I had gained. 5) Greatest GIS accomplishment, thus far? I have lost 3 inches in my thighs total. My pants fit much better. I started Insanity and have completed week 1. 6) How do you stay motivated? Checking out this board especially when someone posts before and after pictures. Also, I feel bad about not particiapting in the morning accountability. Currently, my dad and I are competing about who works out more in the week. 7) Do your family/friends support your GIS goals? Sort of. My fiance will not diet and he had really bad eating habits. I am always tempted by what he eats. Although, today he told me he can see a huge difference in my body.
  • 1) Introduce yourself - Hi, I'm Deena 2) What are your fitness goals? - To be strong and healthy, to continue to challenge my body3) What has been the hardest hurdle youve encountered in your fitness journey? Getting to my goal weight after years of being really over weight, then losing my job while in maintenance.  Needless to say, I've gained some weight4) What motivated you to start getting in shape? Initially I just wanted to lose weight since I was pushing 230 pounds and I felt horrible about myself and that affected every aspect of my life.  5) Greatest GIS accomplishment, thus far? When I was doing Jenny Craig, I lost so many inches I could literally wrap the ribbon of inches  lost around my waist and tie it in a bow.  Running a mile in 8 minutes 30 seconds.  I couldn't run a mile when I was a kid because my asthma was so bad.6) How do you stay motivated? When I don't work out, I go kind of crazy and have tendency towards depression.  Once the depression sets in, everything kind of goes and I sink inwards.  Every day is a fight to feel strong, healthy, and worthwhile.7) Do your family/friends support your GIS goals? 100% I'm incredibly lucky to have wonderful, supportive people in my life who never get irritated or bored with me when I'm down on myself, obsessing about my weight, or raving about the newest thing I'm doing to work out.

  • 1) Introduce yourself Wouldn't it be funny if I said my name wasn't Lauren... but it is... so we'll leave it there... 2) What are your fitness goals? I'd like to be a size 10 so I can try on wedding dresses and look good. 3) What has been the hardest hurdle youve encountered in your fitness journey? When I got patellafemerol syndrome and found out I couldn't run anymore. That was a downer. I worked around it though, biking and swimming. I can walk for a while now too without much pain. 4) What motivated you to start getting in shape? Standing on the Wii Fit in front of FIs family on fathers day and telling me I was obese in front of everyone. Then the icing was it made my mii fat. I almost cried. 5) Greatest GIS accomplishment, thus far? I fit back into some old jeans I thought would never be past my hips again! And I feel good. I like the feeling good. 6) How do you stay motivated? I take it a day at a time like an alchie. Eating was an addiction to me, it would make me feel better and calm me down, but it never did me any good. 7) Do your family/friends support your GIS goals? Most of them do. My little sister is jealous, so she tries to sabatoge me whenever we're together. My FI has been amazing though, going exercising with me and pushing me along when I'm feeling doubtful. Right now the weight is coming off REALLY slow. I'm trying to exercise harder and eat better...but it's been frustrating. 4) What motivated you to start getting in shape?  I kind of started to feel disgusted about myself. I couldn't believe that i let myself get so overweight. And i know i didn't want to feel like that on my wedding day. I want to be beautiful and feel good about myself. I also want to live a long healthy life with my FI and hopefully one day start a family. Plus i want to wear a bikini on the honeymoon. :)5) Greatest GIS accomplishment, thus far? definitely losing 32 lbs! i feel so good about myself so far...and can't wait to get to my goal6) How do you stay motivated? i keep thinking about that bikini....plus that fact that i don't want to spend extra money for a "plus" size wedding dress7) Do your family/friends support your GIS goals? my family and friends do support me. but they all think i want to lose too much weight...but honestly it's not. • 1.  Hi everyone- I've been posting since I found the board after I got engaged in Feb, although I've tapered off as of late.  2.  My fitness goals- complete a 5k and get through the 100 pushups workout.  Be able to to at least 20 consecutive pushups.  It's funny- once I get close to my goals I want to step it out.  My first 5k is in sight and I'm already thinking 10k.  3.  Hardest hurdle- some of my friends have given me the stinkeye whenever I mention that I have to go for a run or that I don't want to drink because I want to work out in the morning.  That's been annoying.  4.  I was motivated to start getting in shape when I gained 10 lbs after starting meds.  Now, however, I am committed to living a healthy lifestyle because of how great I feel. 5.  Greatest accomplishment- the other day I ran for 27 minutes nonstop.  When I first started a minute was an accomplishment.6.  I stay motivated by reading other health and fitness blogs, and by recording all of my workouts in my planner/google calendar.  Seeing something tangible works for me.7.  Yes, they do, aside from the aforementioned friends.
