ADVICE NEEDED..Having a serious WOOSA moment...Kinda long

Hey ladies, I've so been lurking lately, but I've come out cause I seriously need your help.  Now my photographer & I have had an OK relationship since the wedding.  I chose to have her give me CD's instead of printing anything to cut down on costs.  So I pick up the CD's from her Saturday & wouldn't you know my CD drive wasn't working so I had to wait until I got to work yesterday to view the pictures.  Now she was to give me 2 CD's.  One of edited pictures & the other was supposed to be of all of the pictures that she took.  She had informed me 2 weeks ago that her burner was not working so she would have to have someone else burn the CD's.  Which was cool with me as long as I got my CD's.  The only thing that I did not like about her was that she always wanted to remind me of the hours that she worked editing my pictures.  I kind of blew it off cause I'm like that's your job as a photographer so I could care less about how long it takes you.  Mind you I paid her $100 for editing & $5 for each CD.  I check the CD's yesterday & how about there were 2 files on the edited CD.  One was all of my edited pictures & the other one was someone elses wedding.  I was like WTH!  So I checked the unedited CD which should have had over 400 pictures.  Tell me why that one only had 17 pictures on it.  So I sent her an e-mail telling her about both CD's & she said that she would the unedited over, but never said anything about the edited one.  I don't want someone elses pictures.  The crazy part about it was the pictures were from my rental person's sons wedding. She sends this e-mail this morning:Janelle, the girl who did this for me said she couldn`t redo yesterday...I may just take it over to CVS and see if I can do it on their machine !!!! The cd`s cost 3.00 each, and I can`t use my own, could you cover the cost of the Cd`s?Do ya'll know how many times I had to reread that crap?  She hasn't cashed the check that I gave her for the editing & CD's & I have half a mind to stop the dang on thing.  Is she crazy or am I just over reacting?  Why should I pay you more $ for something that you didn't even check to make sure was right the 1st time?  Can ya'll please tell me how I should approach this situation cause the way I'm feeling now WHOO she gonna either get cursed out via phone or e-mail!!

Um, if she can't use her "own" CD's then she needs to purchase some "new" ones.  i dont understand how she is asking you to pay for her mistakes? Regardless if her burner was not working and she had to use someone elses, she was still paid for a service, biz is biz.

Am I understanding this right? You are supposed to have over 400 pics and you ended up with 17? And she's going to CVS to do her PROFESSIONAL pics??? This chic sounds a tad bit unprofessional. It seems as though editing wasn't in the total package since you paid her separately. I most certainly would stop the check till I get my edited CD's. Now we could go on over to CVS for me to VIEW the finished product, but not for her to edit my professional pics. No...I most certainly would NOT pay her extra for more cd's. What's the world coming to???? I guess overall the important thing is that you get pictures you are satisfied with. If you have to pay a lil extra, i think it's worth it. Afterall, these are memories that will last a lifetime. GL! And go ahead and get your woooo saaaah on...

Yes I was supposed to have over 400 unedited pics & there were only 17 on the CD which tells me that she didn't check them at all before she gave them to me. Because this person won't be able to put them on a CD for her she wants to go to CVS to put them on a CD herself.  She did not want me to pay for the editing until she had actually finished doing all of the work & it's not even fancy editing at that, it's just your basic blemish & red eye type of stuff.

Ok....lets think about this. Your original question was how should you approach this cuz u bout to cuss a photog out! I say handle this lady with kid gloves until you get the finished product. I hate to say it, but u may have to just go along with what she says until then. AFTER you get your pics, go to your local board and give a review. We don't want to upset her too much b/c you don't have your pics yet. This is just plumb crazy. don't they know we will shank a fool for playing with our wedding day?! I'm sure it'll all work out.

I can't believe she can't cover $3.00 costs for each cd first of all....wow. I would have to agree with the ladies, be professional. Never allow someone to take away your power by stooping to a level uncharacteristic of you. You ultimately have the upper hand, she wronged you. Word of mouth will be payback enough.....bad recommendation, no new gigs, no money.
