Help me love my dress again

So my wedding is in 3.5 weeks and I'm totally over my dress. I was hoping that I would fall in love with it once it was altered, but no such luck. What do you do to fall back in love with your dress? Help please. :)

• Here's the dress... I bought it in the spring, thinking that once I lost weight it would transform into something magical. So lost almost 20 lbs, but the dress, she is the same, only smaller. Mistake on my part. Tinypic, don't fail me now...

• I love your dress! That's the kind of dress I imagined myself in :)What don't you like about it?

• Its beautiful on you. I tried that dress on, and you look 10 times better in it.
• Shelly, I feel the same way about the dress being what I imagined myself in. I think my issue is that I've realized I don't have the ideal shape for it. The dress has no structure except what I provide with my body, and I'm pear-shaped. Plus, I feel preggo in the profile shots, and that's with a bustier and spanx.

• I think you're drunk. I love that dress on you. What sort of veil/hair are you thinking? You are seeing flourescent-lit shots without make up and hair. You need to visualize the whole picture, and realize it's stunning.
• You.Look.Awesome.Seriously though, you do. You pull that dress of really well, the cut is great on you
• I think you have a nice shape for it.You have a small waist!

• Aw thanks guys. I'm really not trying to hear how purdy I look, though it helps. :) I just need to appreciate this damn dress again. Fish, you're sweet. I don't think I've posted pics of me before... and no bio. Taco cat makes people happy, so who am I to change him?

• You look gorgeous. For serious.I'm with you though. I'm kind of disenchanted with mine at the moment. I still love the dress, but not quite me in the dress anymore...I'm sure I'll "fall back in love" with it at sometime, but man, I am not feeling it today. You're not alone!

• I don't know what pictures you're looking at because I think that dress is super flattering on you. I'm hoping to find a dress very similar to that except with a shorter or no train.
• Good point Bec. The whole picture. Here's my fascinator (for the reception), and veil (probably worn alone for ceremony)

• Yep, you are drunk. Can you imagine how absolutely knock-out gorgeous you are going to look with the hair and the make up and the dress. Holy...I need that fascinator, only smaller. I'm trying to find 20s hairstyles that don't look costumey. It's hard. I want a fascinator and finger curls, damnit!
• Thanks Brie. I have a friend in the same boat who's getting married the day after me, and she didn't look at her dress for months until it got altered, then she was able to really love it again. Mine was hanging in my closet for months, so I looked at it all the time. Bad idea! I think knowing there will always be other dresses is tough. It's like a metaphor for getting married, aw. *blech*Thanks for the kind words, guys! I'll try to appreciate the dress through your fresh eyes. :)

• Ooh, finger curls and a small fascinator would look fantastic on you Bec! Classic Hollywood glamour. 3+2, the bustle on this dress is actually really nice, so don't rule it out if you like it. The underlayer is bustled with a 5-pt bustle, and then the lace on top is bustled separately, also 5-pt (sorry I don't have a pic of it). It's still at DB! :)

• Beatle, that dress is beautiful - classic and elegant. The lace is beautiful. But I know how you feel. I wasn't in love with my dress until the day of my wedding - I was unsure of the jacket until the very last moment. You have to imagine the whole package, the hair, veil, etc. I think the way you're doing your hair will be perfect - it's pulled off your face, but long in the back. The hair ornament will really polish off the look. And congratulations for losing 20 pounds! That is quite a feat, and you should be really proud of yourself. You're gonna look beautiful.
• You look beautiful, stop worrying. You're going to look back at this an laugh when you see everything put together. I really love your trial pic.
• Put down the crank pipe. You look freaking stunning and that dress is drool worthy. I promise you'll be absolutely in love with it once when the wedding day comes.

• beatles, that's good to know and something I should keep in mind when I get around to looking at dresses. Thanks.
• Thanks expat! The 20 lbs was some work for sure, but I kept thinking about this dress and that kept me on the treadmill for that much longer. Maybe I set myself up to be disappointed in the dress by putting so much focus on how different it would look.FWIW, I love your jacket! It all worked for you, especially for a winter wedding. C'est magnifique.

• Yes ma'am, mrsG. I hope to laugh later, and not just because I'm on crank (thanks for busting me lpstl). I will have no choice but to love the dress on the day of!

• Seriously, your waist looks tiny, you by no means look preggo, the v neck is really flattering, and I love the hair doodad. The lighting at the stores is like the least flattering ever. You're being overly critical. Just accept that you look gorgeous and go have fun!
