Re: FFF

  • here is another one. One of the posters in the clear gift wrapping thread said because we do not live in the big city like Manhattan like she does, we are not up to date in the new wedding trends.

Because apparently everything coming out of the the big city is always a good idea.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests. Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I am fairly certain the clear wrapping paper was a joke.
  • I opened this post and was a bit sad because I knew I had a good one earlier this week, but forgot it. And then reading the first two pages made me remember---so now I am thrilled.

navybaby makes me irate. When sarahsmile was out of town, navy was watching her just engaged board--and there was a post here about something lame over there, and navy jumped in the post at the very end to clarify that she wanted "no drama over there"....really? got your "mod" panties all in bunch? slow your role.

  • I'm a little upset that due to P2's butterfly siting, I ended up googling her and looking at her wedding bio again.

then I was happy. because then I remembered why everyone made fun of her.

Don't be so sure. I've heard of "presentation showers" before on these boards. They're real.

Thinking too fast -- I meant that I thought the "big city" comment about the clear paper was a joke. At least I hope it was :)
  • here is the reply:

Maybe the posters should consider that most of you seem to be from small-town places that aren't usually as up to date as bigger cities (I'm from Manhattan, so we're up to date with these things - sorry!). And the bride who posted this is from the "outer boroughs" (whichever that may be), so she might have a better idea than the girls who are attacking her, specifically CEW515...your posts are pretty nasty and immature...kind of what how I would expect my 8th graders to act when their friends don't want to follow along with her idea

  • A - WTF is a presentation shower?

B - I'm having a hard time getting back in the swing of things with my Knotting. I don't know if it's the new board format, or the atmospheric change up or what.

C - I don't understand people who post on the board about how almost everything on the board sucks ass. Then get to steppin', because nobody made you swing up in here.

  • You know who doesn't post anymore? ffmaid. And I miss her. I firmly believe that she usually just said what all the rest of us were saying, but because of the way she typed it out, everyone thought she was a big b!tch or something. I found most of the time, she was saying the same things I was saying.

  • That for sure wasn't a joke, she was completely serious and completely bsc.

  • I also liked the maid. I didn't always agree with her, but I did like her presence.

And she linked me to job openings at Hallmark. Which was awesome.

A - a shower were you just display the gifts instead of actually unwrapping them in front of everyone.

B - you were kind of gone for a while before the change too though weren't you?

C - no comment. It'll get better or they'll leave. I'm too addicted to leave you ladies.

    Kiki is that you??
  • Stefela or whoever is a moron. Presentation showers actually originated in the DEEP SOUTH. They were huge for debs and belles. I remember even as late as the 80s going to a bride's house and her father actually made a tiered stage for all her gifts. They stayed up for months until the wedding at the bride's parents' house and she just kept adding giftst to it.

So um, yeah. Her "big ole city" new trend is ancient and started by podunk southerners, who realized how disgusting and tacky they are, so we stopped doing them. Dumbasss.
