Hi all, being sick with a stomach bug this week made me pack up and head to my parent's house to do laundry and recoup tonight. Free boooze here though Any one else being super lame tonight?
Chillin also. I'm out of pop except for Dr. Pepper and Mt. Dew, neither of which sounds good with Captain, so probably no booze for me. I'll probably turn in early tonight, FI's aunt wants to go to the farmer's market at the buttcrack of dawn tomorrow.
Since you went to Yale- what is the name of the Italian deli/cafe that has the best sandwiches? There are umbrellas outside, on the road parallel to the road with the courthouse but down in the direction of the Yale buildings. We went there for lunch when I was a witness and I'm going back for more court but forgot the name of the place. You get on a long line when you walk in.
Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
We are laying low tonight. We had a pre-cookout to our blow out tomorrow night. The guys are all playing in a golf tournament early tomorrow. So it's a good thing. Plus between the golf tournament, football and the cookout, I'm sure everyone's livers are happy for the break tonight.
What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests. Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
My bridal shower was this afternoon and I'm exhausted. I'm staying at my mom's tonight and I didn't bring a book or anything so now I'm bored. I'm too tired to go out, fi is at drill, and my mom's tired so she went to bed a half-hour ago. I'm thinking I might build a puzzle. I know, thrilling.
I'm here. FI is watching college football (one game on TV, one on his computer) and I'm playing around with my DIY stuff.I made homemade applesauce earlier. It is awesome.

E, not exactly sure... maybe Yankee Doodle? That is across from the au bon pain. If you want an awesome lunch do thai. There is nothing like New Haven Thai food. It is oddly not spicey though...
I'll find it when I get there. The attorney's office is near the corner of Bradley St and Whitney Ave, where there is some big important Yale House, from what I remember. The place is a block behind that. Anyway, it was so good and I'm going back if I can remember the name next week. There is so much good Thai in NY, trust me, it isn't just New Haven.
Yeah. It's a bun with some kind of amazing coconut filling, baked and then finished with a sweetened egg-wash. OMG. SO GOOD.We went for dim sum in china town today so we couldn't resist getting some. Good thing today is cheat day
I just finished an 11 hour work day. I am not used to teaching on the weekends - and I haven't taught that long in forever. My feet are killing me. But, I'm about to have some ice-cream, so that should make today less lame.
Watching the Ohio State / USC game on TV and knotting while enjoying a big glass of wine. Brie - did you can your applesauce? Do you use a water/boiling canner or a presser canner for applesauce?
Not interesting at all, trust me. I mentioned it the week I had to go to court the first time a few months ago. A client who has a place in NY is really a CT resident. We gave him a multi million dollar line of credit for his business, a magazine. He came to my office on day for a meeting that was kind of heated because he wanted a line of credit increase and he was declined. He walked out and then came in saying if I don't increase his line, he isn't paying it. So he didn't pay it since 2007. In CT, you can attach a property to a business loan if there are personal guarantees. So my firm started the process to sue and get lien on his property until he pays back. He tried to fight it saying he never personally guaranteed the business loan but he signed the documents and we discussed the personal guarantee before closing. The funniest court moment at the hearing, he was on the stand and my firm's attorney asked- lawyer- did you read the personal guarantee dummy- no lawyer- why? dummy- I trusted my advisor lawyer- did your advisor ask you to read the documents? dummy- yes lawyer- what is your highest level of education dummy- university degree lawyer- from where dummy- (very prestigious school) lawyer- what was your degree in dummy- journalism Everyone in the room cracked up and the judge asked him why he is wasting everyone's time. They stopped the hearing to review evidence and we are now going back. I was also told that I can be hired as an expert witness again in financial matters for money. The attorney said he is using me for another case soon.
I love that they made the point about his reading comprehension level and then asked him about his education. This reads like a scene from ye olde 'The Practice'You're almost as hot as Dylan McDermott E
We got the red bean balls too. I forgot about it actually. I am not a huge fan, but my sister loves them. Some places call them coconut buns others call them cocktail buns. Same exact heavenly thing. Better than a maple dip donut from timmy ho's.
