Re: I need inspiration

  • I normally don't post, but I gotta get in on this one... CHARLESTON! It's full of beautiful architecture and interesting history! Just do a Google search. HTH! Now it's back to lurking for me. :)

  • I'm late to the party, but we decided on Chicago in late November/early December. There are great architecture tours like Brie said and tons of history, great museums, wonderful food, a surprising amount of outdoor activities at that time of year, and all the fun Christmas stuff going on. When we booked the hotel, the guy thought we were crazy to honeymoon in Chicago in the winter. But I must say, once I got my travel guide and food guides, I got very excited.

  • We're kind of the same way so we did a 3 city tour of the east coast.  We flew into Boston and stayed at a bed & breakfast there for 2 nights, then took the Amtrak to NYC and stayed at an inn on the upper east side for 2 nights, then took the Greyhound to Philadelphia and stayed at an awesome b&b there for 2 or 3 nights.  We did a lot of sight seeing and eating out and drinking, it was so much fun.  We did the Freedom Trail in Boston and saw the old historical buildings and Old Iron Sides and we went to Independence Hall in Philly and loved that.  If you are interested in where we stayed or anything, just page me.

  • Also I don't know if anyone mentioned it, but St Augustine, Florida is wonderful too but I don't think I'd spend a week there.  Two or three nights would do you.

  • New Orleans is fantastic, and you could easily go there in December and have gorgeous weather.  I was married last December, went there for the HM, and the weather was in the 50s-60s most of the time.  If you like history, there is so much to see.  Uptown/Garden District is full of historic homes.  You've also got the Cabildo and Old Ursuline Convent.  And the cemeteries.New Orleans is definitely back and thriving after Katrina!
  • I went to Santa Fe my senior year of high school on a class trip, it was really pretty and had some great architecture.  We actually went in December, it was cold-ish but no snow.I would also second San Francisco and New Orleans.  I love SF, and I've always wanted to visit NOLA.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
