LONG-sorry! AHR questions!!

Sorry for ANOTHER post, but I have a few questions regarding our invitations for our Wedding Celebration. Here's the situation. We leave in one month...yay! for Mexico. We'll be gone for 2 weeks. Our wedding celebration is Janaury 23rd. We are fortuante that a lot of our guests are going to Mexico so we decided not to do the whole reception over again. Instead we are doing appetizers, beer/wine, etc...It's on a Saturday afternoon...more of a little party then anything for the people who aren't able to go. Anyhow, here are my questions....1. Is it tacky to not do response cards since it's so casual? I'm thinking of just including a response with my phone number and email address. 2. What did you guys do for these invites? I am thinking of something very basic. A nice postcard of some sort. Does anyone have examples they care to share?3. What the heck do I do with the wording for this one?!! I'm stumbling over this big time!!4. What's the latest I can send these back? My RSVP date will be January 9th....do I send them right before we leave or have someone send them for me while we are gone? The thing about it is I'm the one they are RSVP too, so I am wondering if we should wait to send them? Is it dumb that I am the person to RSVP too?Sorry I have so many questions about this. I honestly put this on the back burner until now!! Thanks if you made it to the end of this email.... =)

Re: LONG-sorry! AHR questions!!

  • Email was supposed to be post...lol!
  • I think your ideas are great! If it's as casual as you say I think the postcards are such a cute way to tie in the destination wedding to your party. Maybe even real postcards from Mexico!!! I don't see anything wrong with your email or phone number for something simple and casual. It sounds very relaxed and fun. Will you be back by Jan 9th to accept the rsvp's? Or maybe you can just put: "send regrets only" that way it's easier to keep track of??? I'm not really sure about the wording because I don't know your theme??? I think you should tie in the wedding celebration/party into it so everyone gets the idea. It sounds like so much fun. Congrats.
  • 1:  Rather than response cards, I would definitely do phone number2: I think postcards actually FROM Mexico would be an AWESOME idea as invites3: ___ & ____ have tied the knot on the beautiful beaches of Mexcio! Please join us for a casual cocktail reception to celebrate our marriage.DateTimeEtc4:  Since the invites/ party will be on the more casual side, I wouln't send before the 6-8week mark (I would send them when you got home from Mex.HTH!

  • Ditto Dreamsbride exactly.  I might have add an email address to RSVP as well.  I know I prefer to email than call.  I don't think it's weird at all for you to be the RSVP person. How are you dealing date twin?  Whatcha got left to do?
  • You guys are amazing!! Now with this postcard idea....do I just hand write the info on the postcard with a fun marker where you would normally write the letter? I like the sounds of this, but want to make sure I am understanding correctly.Okay, I'm going to do my phone and email. If I do the postcard then I will do these when we return from the honeymoon. Knowing me, I will have them out on the plane on our way back. So let me know about this postcard idea!! Thank you!!
  • FutureMrs.McC....can you believe we are just over a month out? We leave on the 1st so exactly one month from today. I have A LOT to do. Work has been extra hectic the last few months so wedding planning has been on the back burner. So now it's crunch time!!!How's everything going for you?! Are you ready for the big day? I keep saying I am ready to marry my fiance, but from a prospective of hosting the wedding not so much! =)
  • I would hand write the postcards, it will be more personal. Since it's a casual fun event I think that would work great. Maybe even find a cool stamp that fits the "travel" or "wedding" theme to stamp on them and make it a little diy personal??? Hobby Lobby has them or you can make your own through Vista print. You can even use your new last name on the return address!
  • I've been trying to figure out the best way and I think hand written is the only way it would work.  Labels = yuck! I know, I can't believe it!  I feel like it should be like 7months away still.  I'm pretty much ready for the wedding, just a few little things left.  However like you, pretty much slacking on the AHR.  And it's November 28th!!! OMG, I really need a DJ.
