  • 78 is NOT hot down here, or in my house at least. Take that, Fargo! :-p

  • We don't have AC, so whatever it is in the summer, it is.In winter it's between 55 and 60, because the dang thermostat is in the coldest room of the house, and if it's frigid there, it's comfortable everywhere else. It's dumb, but it works. I can't wait to get our own place.
  • I like it at 71 Dh wants 75 we agreed at 73. I just keep the fans on, I live in FL for goodness sake its 90 degrees 10 months out of the year.
  • 72 during the day, we turn it down to 68 at night.

  • Oh and best of all is T keeps the ceiling fans on too and complains about being hot while wearing a sweatshirt and sweatpants while I'm bundled up for warmth...
  • Our A/C was not working this summer, so it was usually 75 or warmer.  I'm kind of glad because DH probably would have set it too cold for me.  Now the heat is usually set around 68-69, but I crank it up to around 71 when DH is not at home.  Shhh...don't tell him.
  • I don't have a choice... the apartment complex regulates the temperature in the units, which really sucks when things begin to get hot or cold outside. The management does not turn off the heat until it has been 65 for 5+ days in a row.

  • I honestly do not know.  We only have one window a/c for the our whole 800 sq. ft condo... it's set at 60 but it is not actually 60.  If I had to guess I would say 70-75.  In the 'winter' time I imagine it's more like 75, b/c if DH is not at home I just leave the windows open and we have a good breeze.  When DH get home the a/c comes back on.  It's too hot with not breeze in the summer to leave the window open. disclaimer: Our tempature only changes 10-15 degrees from day to night year round.  It only changes by the same between summer and winter.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • 65-68 when people are here. 60-65 at night or when we are out.
  • When we have the thermostat on, it's 72 in the winter, 73 in the summer. But, often we turn it off and let the house do it's own thing (especially in the summer), so it may get down to 68 or up to about 76 before we do anything about it.

  • I'm jealous of those who live in climates that are warm year round.  Really jealous.
  • I was so confused about people saying they were keeping their houses at 75+.  Then I realized it was probably air conditioning, ha.  I can't imaging the heating bill keeping it that high. That being said, H and I are really cheap.  60 regularly and 65-68 when we are home.  We have a wood stove with a blower so the living room gets to be about 80 and I feel like I'm in the tropics!

  • 78ish in the summer and 68ish in the winter.

  • This time of year and in late spring, the thermostat is turned off and I open and close windows to get a comfortable temperature.  I really don't know what temperature it is right now.  In the summer I keep it at 73 unless we're away for a couple of days then I will let it go up a fair bit.  In the winter it is set for 70 during the day when we are home and 65 at night.  I program it to turn on about 15 minutes before we expect to wake up so it is toasty when we get out of bed.
  • We don't have a thermostat, but we pre-set the 2 AC units to 76 during the day and put them on energy save mode (so they shut down when they reach that temp). I'll admit to turning it down to 72 occasionally. In the winter we only turn the heat on at night, and it's an ancient unit I'm afraid is going to set the house on fire. But then, it doesn't get below freezing here (even at night), so even a good pile of blankets works for us. I like being cooler than the average person, I think, but I compromise in the summer to save $. It's FINALLY getting down to a decent temp here (and by that I mean 70-75).

  • No A/C, so summer is whatever, but it cools off at night w/ open windows and ceiling fans.  Winter is set to 65 overnight, then turns on an hour before we get up and goes to 70 or 72.  Then 63 all day and set to come on right before we get home to 70.

  • 76 in the summer, 68 in the winter. DH hates it haha but I'm cheap.
  • Anything below 75 and I'm freezing!
  • 78 here in the summer feels perfect. And my A/C bill is about $350 when I do that. I can't afford it any colder! Our house has 2 big central air units, one for each level.

  • Between 60-65 in the winter...it is what it is in the summer, we don't have AC.  I am the one who controls the heat and I am cheap.  But we keep lots of blankets on hand :)
