Time off before the wedding

Re: Time off before the wedding

  • I took off 2 days before, in retrospect 3 would have been better!
  • I'm planning to take the M-F before our Saturday wedding, and Monday and maybe Tuesday off after the wedding. Our wedding is three hours away in my hometown, and we will have several DIY projects and reception decorating to do. My guy won't be able to come much before the rehearsal and dinner on Friday evening as he's still in school, and he may have a test the Monday after! Yikes!

  • I didn't take any days off. I did that on purpose because it forced me to finish everything ahead of time. I know if I had taken the time off I would have procrastinated. After work I got my hair and nails done and then went straigh to the hotel.
  • I'm not taking any time off before the wedding.
  • I got extremely lucky. My original wedding was April 3, 2010...but my brother is being deployed in February so we moved the wedding to January 2nd. I work for a law firm and our office is closed the week of Christmas and New Years, so I get the entire 2 weeks off (double paid for holiday even though I am not working) and the entire week after paid even though we are not going on a honeymoon and I was planning on working, but the head attorney insisted that we spend time together after the wedding. I definately think that my office being closed is a blessing, BUT if it wasn't I would take of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday before the wedding.
  • I'm taking off Wed-Thurs-Fri.  Some running around and errands, but some downtime too.

  • I took off the Thurs. and Fri. before my Saturday wedding. I also took off the Monday afterward, because our wedding was 2 hours away from where we live. We did a belated honeymoon the month after.
  • I'm getting married on a Sunday, and I'm planning to take off at the very least Wednesday-Friday, but preferably the whole week, since both our families and all my bridesmaids are coming from the other end of the country!
  • my husband and I both took a week (M-F) off before the wedding.  Best idea.  Gave me lots of time to clear up last minute details and to spend one whole day with my FI and remember why we were getting married in the first place
  • i think three days would be a good amount of time. i get NO time off, I am a nanny and taking 10 days off for the whole wedding/honeymoon plus 3 more because we get back right before Christmas........
  • Thanks for the help! I put in the request for Wed-Fri before the wedding and two weeks after for the honeymoon. Considering Oct-Mar is busy season for me I am going to have to get it "approved". Since it is at the start of busy season I am hoping it will not be a problem. I hope all works out!
  • We are taking Wed-Fri off before our Sat wedding. I am considering taking Tuesday in addition so I can get everything ready to take with us. The wedding is 90 miles away and I want plenty of time to gather up all of the details that I have not already taken to my parents' house.
  • FI and I are both taking Wed, Thurs, Fri off. I am planning on taking him to the spa on Wed and out to lunch, so we can spend some relaxed time together before the craziness of family shuffling and big day stress totally set in.

  • I think I only took the Thursday and Friday off before my wedding. I wanted to take Wednesday off but couldn't manage it...I wish I had had three days though so I would go for it!!
  • I WOULD SAY TAKE AS MUCH TIME AS YOU HAVE TO WORK WITH. WEDS, THURS, FRI SOUND GOOD BUT MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THINGS DONE SO YOU CAN ENJOY AND GET SOME REST. I AM PLANNING TO TAKE A WEEK BUT I HAVE 7 WEEKS OF VACATION TO PLAY WITH. THE MORE RELAX YOU CAN BEFORE THE WEDDING THE BETTER.

  • My FI will be on vacation (we had to schedule our wedding around when he could be on vacation) and I am taking Thu-Fri and then the following Mon-Tue off to relax before I go back to work.  We aren't taking a trip until our 1 yr anniversary, so I'm not taking a lot of time off.  At this point with only 25 days left until the wedding, I'm wishing I had taken a month off!!  LOL

  • I am getting married on Dec 30th, but I work in education so I am off Dec 22nd through Jan 4th.  So I am lucky to have that time off and not have to use my vacation days until the honeymoon.
  • I am taking off 3 days (Tues, Weds and Thurs) I work shift work 12 hr shifts, and allready off on Mondays and Fridays. We also have alot of family coming in from out of town and the future inlaws will be staying at our house.

  • My wedding is Saturday, and my last day working was today. So I took 3 days. It'll be nice to so I can do all my beautifying treatments and visit with family.
  • I'm taking three days, but my wedding is two hours away from where I live, so I'm taking the time off to go and handle all the little things.  I think you should take as much time as you need. You don't want to feel rushed.
  • My wedding was Sat and I took off Thurs and Friday. Rehearsal was Fri and the wedding site was about an hour from my house.   Would have enjoyed having Wednesday, but I was fine without it.  Don't forget you need to go Town Hall together for your license. That was the main reason I had to take time off since I work business hours, and my husband and I work an hour away from each other so we needed to take a day off to do this.  Here are some other things I did on those days: Dropped of OOT bags to hotel Got nails, toes done Packed for honeymoon Organized house so I didn't come home to a wreck Picked up my dress (you don't want to do this too early) and dropped it off at my mom's. So just a few thing to think about.
  • I'm getting married this weekend and I worked Tues and Weds this week. Mondays are my regular days off. But I did take Thurs, Fri off for my Saturday wedding. I think that's plenty...but it all depends on how much stress you can handle last minute. And how much work you have left to finish.
  • We made our reher. at 7pm on the thrus. before, so it'll give everyone time to get there. This made it so that I didnt have to take off so many days. Im just going to take the fri. before off. My mother can do all the last min. running around for me ;)

  • I am taking Wednesday-Friday off for my Saturday wedding. My FI will probably take just Friday off, oh & leave work a little early on Thursday for the RD. Then I have to go back to work for a whole week (will be the longest week of my life!) & then we will finally leave for a week for our Honeymoon!
  • I took 2 weeks off (hides). I was also prepping the house for guests and entertaining though.
  • I'm a teacher as well - and I also hate writing sub plans more than ANYTHING! Ultimately, I decided to get married in July to avoid any potential days off issues. However, 2 of my co-workers are getting married, but they have scheduled to only take off the Friday before both Feb vacation and April vacation in an attempt to get a jump on their weddings and following honeymoon.

  • I decided to take off a whole week. I am having a lot of realatives from out of town including my sister, so I want to spend as much time with them as possible : ) Oh and  betrothed123  GO SKINS!! ;)
  • I'm off every monday, so i've been back and forth on whether i'll take off the remainder of the week or go in that monday and still take tues-fri off. I'll probably do the latter to save on vacation time. Plus I want to keep a stead momentum b/c i'll be doing favors, printing programs and menu cards during that time and rehearsal is Friday night.-Van
  • I'll be off the Wed-Fri before my Saturday wedding.  Considering we're literally doing the whole thing ourselves (including the food with some help from my chef step-father), I'm starting to get slightly nervous about it.  But I'm actually far more organized than I expected, so I'm sure everything will go off without a hitch...right?  Right?? Suzanne
  • I have already scheduled Wed, Thur & Fri off, but when it comes down to it, I may just take Thur & Fri (to save my vacation time for other trips). I really have nothing that is DIY, so I will just need to pick up my dress, take some things to my venue, etc. :)
