To make RSVPing easier I have created a wedding website at www.mywedding.com. I have also designed an RSVP card to send with the invitations, which the wedding website address will be on. should we include preaddressed and prestamped envelopes for the people who decide to mail the RSVP card back to us?

I thought about soing online rsvp only, but after hearing horror stories on here about only 12 of 160 people responding, I went with the stamped cards.

You should worry about this in a year and a half.But yeah, you have to send the prestamped envelopes and cards to everyone.

Aww! He is so sweet. He's asleep on the couch and occasionally barking softly in his sleep, which is funny, because he doesn't even bark when he's awake.

I agree, you should not rely solely on online RSVPs, as nice as that would be. I also agree that you probably shouldn't be worrying about this kind of stuff yet. Either way, good luck with your planning!

Thank you everyone for you thoughts ! Brie, lets get somethin straight. Just because your wedding is close doesn't mean you need to be snarky. You don't know what's going on with my life right now so don't be so opinionated about when i plan my wedding. For your information, In the next 2 years I have my best friends baby shower to throw, remodel and decorate the nursery, The same best friends wedding which I am maid of honor in, her bachelorette party, my FI's sister wedding and bachelorette party, school, work, plus my own wedding. If you don't mind, I'd like to plan my wedding as early as I please.

Maggie still does those little chuffs - they're adorable - her cheeks puff out and everything. I love it when her paws move like she's running. J went up to bed a couple of hours ago, and she went with him - she hasn't come back down, which makes me laugh. All week, she's been trying to get into the bedroom with him when he's gone up early. She absolutely worships him.

I finished and graduated law school, took and passed the bar exam, moved out of state and got a job in that time. I still have plenty of time to plan. And honestly, I wish I had waited on a lot of stuff--in two years, wedding colors change, dates change, venues change, styles change. Do you really want to get stuck with stuff you don't like by the time your wedding rolls around?Or, whatever, I'm a biitch. Fine.

Mrshoward, woah hang on. Brie was not snarky at all; she told you a piece of helpful advice. If you start worrying about small details this early on; in 18 months, you are liable to be stressed beyond belief. We can all appreciate being under pressure and needing to get ahead of the game, but we're also trying to help you know when you need to worry and when you don't.There was nothing wrong with what she told you, nor the way she told you. It was a legitimate response to your question, seeing that your wedding is almost two years away. She also answered the question that you indeed posted, so there is no need to jump down her throat with that type of response.

It's fine to start getting ideas on what you like, but if you begin planning all of the smaller details now, you need to be realistic in recongising that a lot of your preferences are going to change as it gets closer.

I'm a year and three months into my three-year engagement, and while I've been deciding on a lot of the big stuff like the ceremony and reception venues, the budget, etc., no way am I making my response cards right now or setting up a website for responses. Why? I might change my mind, or things might change this far out, or it might turn out that we need to add extra stuff to our response card. Suggesting that this is a little early to make your response cards is in no way snarky.

I'm sorry. You're right I blew up. Been fighting over 3 different weddings all day. Just really stressed. Out of line. Anyway. My wedding is the last one and the other girls haven't started plannign yet. I"m just trying to use my time wisely because i'm sooooo busy for the next 2 years. By the time the other weddings are done i'll have 5 months to plan. I'm trying to get as many general ideas of things I'm gonna need to know now so when I actually get my turn to start putting things together everything will already be mostly figured out. I know it's really early but i'm a planner and I'm going to have to focus on 2 other weddings at the time I should be starting my planning.

Yeah I changed my mind 32098u43092840 times before we made final decisions. I'm still changing my mind almost a week away. But to answer your question, we had a pre-stamped RSVP card but some people RSVP'd verbally, on the website or via email. It's good to have both options.

Since you're not getting married in any of these other weddings, the only wedding you really 'need' to focus on is your own. You can plan your wedding concurrent to being a MOH or BM. I am perplexed by the fact that you cite things like throwing a baby shower as adequate justification for needing to plan so early.

I know it's really early but i'm a planner and I'm going to have to focus on 2 other weddings at the time I should be starting my planning.To be fair, you don't HAVE to focus on your MOH and FSIL's weddings. My MOH/sister has very little involvement in our wedding, and my FSIL doesn't either. You are in no way obligated to plan a bachelorette party or shower for either of them. It's perfectly acceptable to say, "Hey, I'm busy planning my own wedding--can someone else take this?"

Yeah, you don't want to plan too early and then regret any decisions you made early on later. Gotta find a happy medium in there...if you wait too long you might not get certain vendors you were wanting. You've got plenty of time so don't panic! Good luck!

Getting general ideas is fine. Speaking as somebody who is having the longest engagement ever, I know I spend a lot of time (while procrastinating from school) thinking about all my wedding preferences in a general sense. Hanging out here is a really good way to do research because people who are getting married sooner will ask the same bloody questions over and over, and each time you can think about how you would handle that particular issue in your case. For a lot of the major categories of decisions, even if I haven't picked something out yet, I know what I need to figure out to make the decision, and I think that will help me to get things figured out as things get closer.But I really don't think you're saving yourself all that much time by actually making invitations, RSVPs, or other DIY projects right now. If you change your mind, you'll just be redoing your work.
