  • There is a phrase going around my area that drives me nuts.  Male or female, if they seem irritated at all they get asked, "What's wrong?  Got sand in your vagina?" Drives me insane.
  • Prego Preggers Bling Ain't Double negatives like "I didn't do nothing. I don't got nothing." So then you have something... My boy or my girl. Don't refer to me as "your girl" - I'm not your girl. Good girl. I don't care how old you are or what "good" thing I did, it's not okay for you to say "good girl" to me - I'm not five.
  • Fische, I'm glad you remember me, and I could really use that enormous margarita you're holding right about now.

  • Slacks (to go along with blouse).  They're pants.

  • When people say "melk" instead of milk it drives me up the wall. And acrost instead of across. I can't stand that and my FI does it all the time.

  • I second "slacks" wholeheartedly.  Maybe if you are above the age of 60 and/or someone's grandma you can get away with it.  Maybe.

"Whatever East. You're just mad I RSVP'd "lame" to your pre-wedding sleepover."
  • I have a c/w who says "touch basis with you"... twitch twitch!!! I also HATE when people say "whenever" instead of "when" .... "whenever I was six years old I played tee-ball". "I could make a good martini whenever I worked at T.G.I.Fridays"... My dad says "warsh" AND pronounces the S on the end of Illinois!

  • my sister just got engaged to a guy whose last name is Slack.she is keeping her name.
  • Also, "Axe" a question, "tight" as in cool, and FURBABY. Oh, and when I lived in Lexington, KY, people called it "Lex Vegas" all the time. Now that I'm in Louisville, I always hear people say "The Ville" and "Da Ville"... Soooo stupid!

  • Axe is terrible, I hate that one. "Can I axe you a question?" No.
  • Axe is popular on LI, sadly.  I hate it.

  • I had no clue what the mention of 'axe' was in reference to until that comment, Sarah. With our accents, it's more common that someone will want to 'ahss' you a question, haha.
  • Aunt Flo I'm sorry, but you don't need to personify your menstrual cycle, it's just gross. And why would I want to know that your "Aunt Flo is visiting?" Be an adult and call it a menstrual cycle or a period.
  • Oh, and when I lived in Lexington, KY, people called it "Lex Vegas" all the time.I've noticed it's everywhere around there. The people from Nicholasville call it Nick Vegas.I hate moist and slacks, and my mother always says "eXspecially" and "supposably". Drives me up the wall.

  • Ohhh don't even get me started on eXpecially... that and eXpresso are the absolute worst. Speaking of "worst"- Friday I got in a little argument with my boss about him not wanting to change "worse-case scenario" to "worst-case scenario"on a memo... I compared it to "best-case", not "better-case" as the opposite scenario, and he still wouldn't change it and insisted I was wrong. Whatever, what do I know? I only minored in English....

  • Aunt flo or any of those other names that people give to their period are all highly disturbing. Likewise, I've heard a few people refer to 'laying cable' and it disproportionately disgusts me... Unrelated, but another I thought of was 'youse'. I don't know if people use that in the States, but here all of our bogans say youse; eg. 'do youse want something to drink?'.
  • I don't remember who said, but  "I've been tying my shoes since I was 5" is actually the correct way to use since.  Since indicates a passage of time, it doesn't actually  mean "because."

  • J&K - I think the phrase was 'I've been tying my shoes since I'm five'. The way you worded it is the way they should have worded it. lolI hate when people say probly. Is it so hard to add in the 'ably'?
  • Carb or carbsWifey (makes me shudder)Junk
  • The alternate 'p' word for vagina, and ornery. I also don't the phrase 'hairy eyeball'.

  • I like the word panties and say it all the time.  I think I have scarred both FI and my son by referring to their underwear as panties, well actually "pawntees" - I love it!
