The class I'm teaching, Creative Writing for Adolescent Lit, is partly dedicated to exploring the dynamics behind YA lit. There is a mindset that the genre isn't worthy of critical review, and another that says the exact opposite. I've enjoyed hearing what the students have to say about why it's so important and their comparisons among genres, authors, and readers who don't bother to give the books a chance. Gives me hope.

Arrrrrrrgh I don't want to talk about Mad Men, it's a sore subject. I am desperate to watch it on Sunday but we don't have cable. This one show has seriously made me consider getting it but it's so damn expensive and otherwise not worth it.

I have been trying to find another place to watch it online after the fact but I think there will be a big lag. i don't even mind paying for it. FH's bff has a DVR and lives below us so I may try and bribe him to record it. He already has his set Sunday night shows that he records but I know they reair it in the middle of the night.

All of my previous Mad Men watching was done on DVD and usually 3-4 episodes back to back. I don't know how I'll be able to handle waiting a week if i do find a way to watch it.

I've bought a few pairs already that I kind of like, but one or two of them are kind of ehhhh now that I've worn them a couple of times and see how they actually fit and hold up throughout the day. I'm trying to make do with a lot of shirts and leggings that I had pre-pregnancy, at least until I get back from my trip and can get some more summer stuff.

shrug I think I'm entitled to my opinion. Nothing about it is appealing to me, I'm not knocking people who read it or write it, I just personally think its crap. I also think reality tv is crap. Big deal.

I get what you're saying Nebb and I generally agree. I think one of the big issues for me is that they're often written about young adults and that doesn't appeal to me. I just figure for $5 it is worth giving it a shot.

Red hot pokers still couldn't get me to read Twilight though.

Perfect! Once I can actually get to my drawers (they're currently stacked in the shower upstairs and blocked by a boxspring) I'll figure out what I've got and don't need (I pretty much live in the same 3 pairs of jeans) and you can come visit. :)

I fucking hate this tk mobile I'm being forced to use. None of my symbols work dollar sign, asterix, number sign, if I swear it doesn't give me a chance to edit it, just gives me an error and I lose my message, I can't figure out how to jump to the end of the post and it just sucks. I effing hate this.

Morning ladies. You guys are chatty this early. Happy Spring indeed. I like that you called today the first day of spring, chels.

It's my birthday and I always used to get in a fight with my friend over whether today or tomorrow is the first day of spring. (His birthday is tomorrow. ha.)

Nothing super exciting here though. I HAVE to go get my driver's license renewed; it expires today. oops. I never procrastinate like that, but I didn't realize it expired... because I JUST got a new one (picture and all) back in July when we moved. Apparently August is when they start allowing renewals for the next year. assholes.

Happy birthday!!

I am doing way better today, thanks to a crap ton of sleep last night. We are almost caught up on TWD, we just have the finale to watch, hopefully tonight.

Nebb- that Tumblr site cracked me up- I was just saying last night how that kid must have a deathwish. My favorite is the Love actually appearance.

We got thunderstorms last night!!!!! Huge deal to me, obviously.

Good morning ladies!

So far my morning has been craptastic! I didn't sleep well last night because I kept worrying that the 2 year old down the street with the shitface for a mother was going to get out of the house again and end up getting hurt.

Then I spent 45 minutes on the phone with DFACS trying to get them to do something about this incident, I'm still not sure whether they will or not.

Then our pollen level here in good ol Georgia is at a record high at something like 9500. Really? It isn't even the end of March yet. I don't think I ever remember it being this high even when we've had really bad years. With pollen levels that high stuff like Claritin just sits back and says "nope!" lol

Other than that its a normal day, at work (still haven't gotten paid?!) then home. Cooking beef tenderloin tonight for supper so I'm looking forward to that.

I have been sitting here twiddling my thumbs (and reading the boards of course) because I didn't want to start anything new before she got here. I'm tired as usual. I went to bed early last night, dont even know when H came to bed. I havent been feeling well, my right ear (inner,behind, and down the side of my throat) has been hurting for weeks now. My sinues are over the top right now, so I know this is the issue. It just hurts, I have to do Flonase at night and Claritin during the day.
