No invite???

My fiance and I are about to send out our invitations and when we were finalizing out count we realized that we have 317 people all together on our guest count! We sent out save the dates but now we realize that we can only have a max of 240 at our venueVogt - this comment is what makes her a moran. Her wedding is in 2 months. The venue had to have booked. How do you not know your limit at the venue.STD had to have been bought, addressed and mailed. How do you not know how many people you sent them to?Invitations need to be sent out in the next week or so. How did you order enough invites if you did not know your final count?There are so many times she would need to know a count, I just do not know how it slipped through.

Are you counting +1s that you don't know? If you invited John Smith but have never met his long term girlfriend can you just invite John Smith? Is there another party during the wedding weekend said girlfriend could still go to (rehearsal dinner, Sunday brunch, whaveter)?I've had this done to me ... it's a toolish thing to do but if that and kids gets you at or close to 240 maybe you can squeeze it.

OK-I expected the harsh remarks and I have taken some of what you are saying into consideration. To answer some questions about how we missed this....we never thought to look at the venue max, because we did not think we would even come close to anyone's max. My fiance's family and my family have added some people as we have gone along. When we sent out the STD we were thinking the amount of couples, NOT the individuals....which yes, was stupid, I am not arguing that fact. But I just did a recount, AGAIN and we actually have 297 on the list, with about 52 that we do not think will be coming. We made our own invites so they are not printed yet.Anyway, I know I deserved the harsh remarks and thanks for the input.

I know I'm a little late, but OP - even though you say you think about 50 won't come, don't count on it. Those that you think would never show up, can't wait to celebrate your marriage. I agree with pp's. Can you cut out kids or +1's for single guests. This can technically only be done if you didn't include & family or & guest on the STD though.
