New coat - yea or nay?

Re: New coat - yea or nay?

  • I meant I love Option 2, No 2 has too many snaps.
  • Check out Victoria's Secret.  They have A LOT of nice coats right now.
  • I like, not love the second one. It is much better than the first one. The first one reminds me of a quilt.

  • I agree it doesn't look that warm and I see you are from NJ.  You need something warmer in my opinion.
  • OH GOD TWO IS HORRIBLE.

  • What is your price range? I live in MS. and I still need something pretty warm in the winter.

  • I like the second one way better. I got a rabbit fur scarf once. It was soo friggin' warm and comfortable, I wore it out once, and got so much shiit from people for wearing it I returned it the next day. Wasn't worth dealing with the moral consternation. I felt OK about wearing rabbit, though...they've totally overpopulated much of the world. Not sure how I'd feel about fox.But I don't have your body type...so I'm not positive what styles will look best on you. Maybe Dani can give you a good opinion?
  • Fische, that was the reaction of my friend here at work. For some reason I like it, but she was all "Eww. No."PFFFT.I will check out VS. Sigh. Stupid winter.
  • Try kohls.com as well. I got my coat from there last year.

  • Well, I could still be wrong :) As far as anything stylish goes for winter coats I'm lost...I've been wearing my North Face fleece for like 5 years and have no plans to switch to anything else.
  • 2 years ago I bought an awesome wool pea coat from NY&Co for $60 and it's SO FREAKING warm. It hits around my butt, but I'm 5'2" and it looks really cute on me. Maybe something like that?
  • Ricks, if at all possible I would like something under $200 that comes to around knee length (again, I'm only around 5'3" or 5'4", so thats not too tough). Preferably not the standard black wool coat, I am so sick of mine, but still warm for every day winter cold and snow removal from the car on occasion.
  • Oh, and it really depends on the thickness of the wool how warm that coat is. Winter coats are tough to get on-line, although I will get coats from bluefly b/c they have a good return policy. I ordered some jeans from Rue La La once (yanuks, my favorite). I paid $49 each for 2 pairs which they said retailed for $179. When I received the jeans, one pair was $179, but the other pair had an MSRP of $89. I was pissed but never bothered to do anything about it...I don't like false advertising.
  • I HATE the first one.  Real fur issue aside, it is completely fugly and unless you are tall and lithe you will look like a stuffed sausage.  The second one would be great if it didnt have quite so much going on.  I also agree with Nebb that it doesn't look very warm.  Maybe something else similar that doesn't have quite so much needless detailing going on and is a little warmer?  I always think needless add-ons on a garmet makes it look cheap.   I like the belt on it.  Belts on coats are a great way to give you a shape and avoid the whole "boxy added weight" thing that most coats do.

"Whatever East. You're just mad I RSVP'd "lame" to your pre-wedding sleepover."
  • East said it best.Andalso it makes me hot just thinking about coats. I almost wore a long sleeve shirt today but I knew I would be dying by the afternoon.

  • I feel like quilted coats never look great on people. I like pea coats better, but it's a matter of preference.Yeah. And I'm just not a fan of the hood.

  • I'm so mad at VS.  They don't have the coat I want in the color I want it anymore.  Stupid VS.

  • Ricks, could you PIP? I will have to check the link at home later otherwise - stupid work blocks VS.
  • Nay, because of the fur.
  • Okay, hold on.

  • ooh, that's pretty ricks. Have you ordered coats from VS before? I've had issues with the quality of their clothes sometimes...for things that are trendy it's no big deal, but I usually wear a winter coat a lot and like to get a couple of years out of it.
  • Thanks! That is cute...a little detail so it's not boring, but not too much going on!I think it is definitely a contender :) Thanks for finding it! I will check out the full info in the link when I get home.
  • I have not ordered a coat from there. I have ordered a coat from NY and Co. 3 years ago and I still have that coat. IKt has held up well for 100 bucks!
