i apologize if this has already been covered, but this occurred to me when we heard hunters on our trip (insert obligatory knot-seeping-into-real-life comment). does your fi eat what he kills? just wondering.

When DH used to hunt he would eat what he killed. Now he'll eat from his friend's kills since he can't hunt.

Yeah, Daff. Multiple back surgeries w/another one in the works. He can't lift anything over 5 lbs, let alone hike in the woods for game.

Man Sco, that sucks. Poor guy. My dad eats his kills. Well, he eats his friends' kills. He's never shot anything but a target. I don't think he has it in him.

In some rural areas, they also have charities where you can donate the meat you can't/won't eat to people below the poverty line. FI and I were discussing this the other day, oddly enough.

yep, that's the master bath nebb. haven't really gotten much else done. the plumbing and electric have been stubbed out and the subfloor is in. not much to look at yet. sco, it's north and west of here.

nope, loudoun. well the family room is de-pinked, need to finish the paint in there (and the moulding and trim). the pink tile took a backseat to the master bath. i also know exactly what i want to replace it, but i don't even know if it exists. and then the pink kitchen cabinets...i'm just not sure what to do about those yet.

Oh and turkey and dove. I only ear deer and turkey, everything else is too gamey. He kills enough each year that his mom never buys ground beef. Venison is so much healtheir.

If FI would have caught anything this year, we'd be eating venison. His little cousin got the only deer in the group. What would be the point of hunting if you weren't planning on eating what you shoot?

mocha, many hunters only hunt for the "big kill," for that big ole head to hang on the wall. Jill, I know, it kinda makes me sad too. But FI is a very efficient hunter, so they don't even know what hit them. And it's really enjoyable, it's so peaceful just sitting there at 4 am watching the sun come up in the woods. Also, it's illegal to hunt when the does are pregnant, even so many weeks after birthing season, so the babies have enough time to get weaned. They're very, very strict on when you can and can't hunt, bag limit, and even size.

I have to say, we are so overpopulated with deer here that I literally see 4-5 dead on the side of the road every day on the way to work.I'm not a huge fan of hunting, but I'd rather the meat be used and eaten than wasted on the side of the road/potentially injuring drivers.

i'm particularly senstive because deer is my totem animal. we also passed a taxidermy place and i got to thinking about those fuuckers who trophy-tize their kill. i do understand eating it, though.
