Honest opinions needed

....and I know that's what P&E is good at :)So I'm having major dress doubts.  I loved the dress when I bought it, but recently, I've been looking at pictures of it and something just looks off. Granted, it's two sizes too big right now (I bought a sample dress), but the draping on the bust just looks funny to me. So I am asking you all for your honest opinions on the dress. I know it might not be everyone's style, or what they would pick for themselves, but any sort of feedback would be appreciated, mainly on the draping detail, which is currently bugging me. I just feel like I"ve been looking at it way too much and have no idea if I'm just being overly nitpicky or if it actually looks strange. Thanks in advance, and here goes my attempt at a PIP. If it doesn't work (likely), pics are in bio.

Re: Honest opinions needed

• I really think that it's just because of it being too big.  It's so hard to say because at first, I thought it was a sweetheart neckline until I realized that was your bra.

• Holy crap, the pictures are huge. I apologize!!! Most especially for the massive boobage shot.

• I think it looks beautiful on you, and will look even better after alterations. You need to stop obsessing (I know, easier said than done) but if you look at anything for too long, you'll find faults with it.
• Wait...is that your bra or is it a combined S/H and straight neckline?

• Well I think it looks great on you for one thing, and it's not the draping that bothers me so much, it's how low it is.  I would be worried about it falling down or you hiking it up all night.  I think the key is really making sure you get a good seamstress and have it fitted perfectly.  And make sure you lose the tan lines.  ;)

• yeah, the tanlines are an added distraction that keeps you from being able to see the real look

• I like it personally. The neckline is nice and the shape looks good (Imagining what it would look like a bit smaller).
• B - I think it is sweetheart neckline, and that's part of the dress. I guess if you really nitpick, the draping doesn't seem to "go" with the sweetheart style. But I think it's a pretty dress and looks great on you. Stop thinking about it!

• Mrs. B- it is a sweetheart neckline; that's not my bra. The draping detail goes over the sweetheart neckline. Jill--thanks for the kind words :) You're right, I know, I just need to not look at it until I go for alterations. But way easier said than done!

• In my honest opinion, it is a gorgeous dress, and once altered to fit you correctly, you will be stunning. I really like it on you,
• Wait is that your bra or the dress? I think it would look great after it fits you. Holy crap the girl behind you has an effing awful dress.
• I wasn't sure because of how big it is.  I thought maybe you were layering to spare us the nip shots. :-)   I think it's really pretty and when it's properly fitted, you'll feel better about it.

• Your dress is beautiful! I can see what you mean with the draping, but when it's fitted to your size, I'd bet that the seamstress would pin the folds of the dress up properly. I'm nitpicky too, but I honestly wouldn't worry too much. My only other thought on your pictures is "holy s, that's a lot of fabric" (referring to the girl in her dress behind you).
• I think the draping is very pretty, but agree that good fitting is crucial.  You don't want to worry about what's showing, or have to hike it up all day.  Your seamstress is your best friend with this dress to make sure it is fitted perfectly and looks as beautiful as it possibly can.  And hit the tanning bed topless for a while.

• I think its gorgeous and will be even better once it fits.Yeah...the girl behind you is why my ex used to say that "wedding dresses just look like you were eaten by a marshmallow"
• hahaha I didn't even notice the giant cupcake-ness going on in the background! I like the dress. I think because that's the only thing really "going on" -- since there are no beads or anything, it's easy to let your eye fix right on that spot. When you look at the whole picture, you look great!
• Holy crap the girl behind you has an effing awful dress. This
• wow you're right - the girl behind you is being swallowed up in a sea of taffeta.  Yikes.

• I think it will look amazing once it's fitted.

• Very, very pretty dress.   I agree that it's in need of alterations, but I think once it fits you properly it will be stunning.

• It makes me think of Batty from Ferngully.  "Lift, I need lift!"  I think the shape is pretty, it is just too low on the girls.  Get it up where it belongs and probably a good bra underneath.

• Haha, you are all totally right about the tan lines. I didn't realize how bad they were until I saw the pictures. Definitely getting a strapless top/doing some tanning lotion next year! Thanks for all the feedback; I guess it is just hard to tell how it will look when it's so big. And danieliza, you're definitely right about getting it fitted tightly to prevent it from slipping. I don't want to have to be pulling it up all night, which I was doing in the store. Hopefully when it's fitted to me, it'll stay where it's supposed to. And that girl in the cupcake dress was insane. She was saying that the dress wasn't full enough, and she wanted to add more poof to it. The seamstress was telling her that this was definitely doable and the girl was "ahead of her time" and that this style of dress (I think it had a see through bodice as well) was the "next big thing." ....ooookay, to each their own I guess!

• Night_Sprite--definitely need some LIFT, lol. The girls need to be up up up. I'm hoping that sewn in cups will be enough to do that.

• I think it looks great on you.

• P.S. If you feel weird about the height of the sweetheart above the draping, you could probably have the seamstress tuck that down a bit/take some off.  It might make the draping look less like two distinct sections.

• I would also recommend putting a band-aid over your belly button--the fabric seems like kind of a light satin and that will help hide the weird belly button dent that sometimes shows through.

• OMG I just went to your bio and the girl in the background's dress is even worse from the front!
• Ye gads her dress is scary.
