Wedding Woes

Area rug help.

We are going to be swapping our current dining room set with my grandmother's. (She is cool with it as she is in assisted living and my brother is moving into the condo she isn't in anymore.)

Anyway, we currently have an area rug in the dining area that we found on Craigslist for 50 bucks right before we moved in. I am ready to change out the rug. We currently have this rug in the pool room immediately adjacent to the dining room. The walls match the light tan and russet sort of color. What do you all think of these?

#1, which supposedly has the colors of the other rug: http://tinyurl.com/3atyrfh

This one looks nothing like the other rug, but mirrors it.

This is is just a plain jane brown shag, but according to the reviews, cleans up well versus kids and pets. Some of which we have and/or are planning on having.

For reference, the dining set goes back some years, is midcentury in era, but not quite true mid century. Grandmother was rather proper, so didn't eschew all the decorative carving and bits on her furniture.

Well, I love #2, but it's nothing like 1 or 3, so I'm wondering if you sent the right link. :)

If you are worried about kids (and dogs, I'd presume), just don't spend a ton of money. We currently have a 5x8 rug in our 15'x18' living room because I'm not willing to spend $800 on something that's bound to get marker on it. :)

HomeDecorators.com has a huge rug selection, if you haven't looked there already.

But I really love #2. If they make it big enough, maybe I can replace our LR rug without spending a fortune. :)

I love #2, it is the right rug DG!

Thing with #2, is it is really different from the other rug and my husband isn't a fan of it. I am also worried about the pattern of the rug and all the tablecloths I have that are patterned and clashing.

i LOVE #2 - i am going to show this to DK tonight because we really need an area rug in our family room, and the colors would probably work really well.

    Listen to the monkey. :)

#2 is also very versatile, so you can probably move it to a living room or bedroom or office if you end up wanting/needing to.  I wouldn't worry too much about table linens. It's nto that big of a rug, and it's not like you usually see both at the same time.

Also - did you see my note from the other day about LTS? Have a ton of fun and report back. I spent about $450, but that did include a winter coat. I ended up going online and spending another $135 a week or two later, just because it was so awesome to finally have clothes that fit!

I actually just noticed that the Target link doesn't have the rub in the 8x10 size anymore, blah. But the home decorater's link has it, so win!
I am going to keep looking, the more I think about it, the more I want rug #2 in our living room and something else in the dining room. And I do kinda want a shaggy rug, I just haven't found any that are fun in terms of colors.

Shut up. I saw this one a few months back on home depots website, then it was gone. Gone. I was broken hearted because I liked it a lot. opinions?
