Re: Confused

  • Shiit, at 19 I couldn't even get a $6k car loan without dad's cosignature.

Dear, people with many years of fantastic credit aren't getting mortgages, what makes you think they're going to give a mortgage to a couple of starry eyed whippersnappers like yourself?  I don't know what the market is like in central PA, but I'd venture to guess you won't find much that's in good condition for less than $75k.  So you'd need at least $15k to to make a 20% downpayment to avoid PMI.  Do either of you have that just sitting around?  Probably not.  Then you're going to have a higher interest rate, and PMI, all of which adds up considerably on the monthly mortgage bill.
  • At least in the trailer park they got yo back

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

  • My first mortgage was a trailer, and I worked 40 hours a week and went to school full time and still barely made ends meet. I had a house by age 19, and that was an even bigger mortgage that required full time work while I got through college full time. You have NO CLUE what you are doing, and you'll ruin any potential of making a life for yourself if you go into this so blindly. But hey, you love hanging out and hated prom, so go for it. Hell, what do we know?

[QUOTE]Maybe by house, she means trailer?  I mean, you can get one of those real cheap.  And the bonus is you get to live in an awesome trailer park.

But then you'd have to pay rent, too.

Better to just park it in mom's back yard.
  • Because everyone knows you should base all major life decisions on whether or not you enjoyed prom.
  • Okay, somebody 'fess up. Whose troll is this? Heels, is this you? Still sad that bride2b2 has been outed, so you invented this persona for our edification and amusement? Because if the OP is real, please, for the love of Darwin, don't reproduce.

I sure hope not, because I loved one prom but hated the other. So I guess my life is gonna just be one big 50/50.

  • S'ok Beatles.  I hated prom, but loved post prom.  So...does that mean I should hate life and love...the afterlife?  That's creepy and I'm done :-p
  • Haha no I can't take credit for this one.  Don't worry, if I have any more trolls they will be original.  They won't be like all the other trolls.  They will be spay-shul.
  • Did anyone notice that OP also posted in ricksang's thread about friends who lie constantly?  It kind of sounded like SHE (OP, not ricks) was lying...hmmm, I wonder what that could mean for this thread.

I don't think they get any more spay-shul than the OP.
  • Wow...so much negativity on here! I agree it might not be the best idea in the world to get married at 19 or 20, but I sure do know alot of people my age (in the 25-30 range;) who are not yet mature either! In fact I'd dare say some of the "adults" on here harshly critizing a younger woman to make themselves feel better is pretty immature.

My advice? I'd say to talk it through with adults you trust and who know you really well, make sure you have a plan for the future (ie: jobs that you enjoy and will keep you from living with parents, or more schooling), and then go from there! Did all the rest of you forget that many of our parents & grandparents married at young ages (right out of high school, perhaps?) and are still happily married.  Getting married at a later age does not mean you'll have a happy, healthy, long marriage, obviously.  Give love a chance.
