Re: pillows

  • If you have down pillows, you can throw them in the dryer under the highest temp and they do fluff back up. FI and I have 8 pillows on the bed, but we are pillowsluts.

A ten year old mattress will weigh twice as much due to skin cells and dustmite droppings. This is why you should put one of those covers on your mattress.

  • I think we replace ours about every two years or so. Normally Katie steals them off the bed though so most of the replacing is because she stole them.

We have 6 pillows on our bed. Normally I wake up and am completely surrounded by them. I have one under my head, one on each side of my head, one at my back and one under my arm (I sleep on my side). Scott normally piles them on top of him when he sleeps.
  • I don't know, but I ALWAYS use a pillow cover under the pillow case.  I had to throw out some of DH's old pillows, though.  They were yellow and GROSS and he finally gave in.

As for mattresses, I'm so glad they make non crinkly plastic covers now.  My mom always kept hers in plastic, which sounds nasty, but it was necessary with kids and stuff.  We have one on our bed now because of the baby, but I want to keep our super nice mattress in good condition anyway.

When I was in middle school, I was grossed out because I slept over a friend's house and she just had a bottom sheet over a nasty, gross, brown and dirty mattress.  It creeped me out and the sheet kept on popping off.  It seriously scarred me for life.
