When I was with my first serious boyfriend, I can't recall a time I farted or burped AT ALL. I don't know how I did it for nine months straight. I think in the past 9 years since, I've been making up for lost time, LOL.

I tried to hold it around his family until I realized they (the women folk on both sides) were worse than me. His mom will fart mid sentence and keep talking like nothing happened. When he was little, he came home from grandma and grandpa's and his mom asked how the night was. He said very excitedly " We ate Taco Bell and had a farting contest AND GRANDMA WON!!" This is how I knew I was meant to be part of this family.

[QUOTE]So, for those of you who don't fart in front of your SO...what do you do? Like, say you just went out and had Mexican food and you have a digestive system like mine that gets gassy afterward. Do you like...sit in the bathroom all night? Excuse yourself every five minutes and go fart in another room? I'm really curious. Like, that's what I would do if I was at a friend's house, but I'd feel weird doing that in my own home with BF.

</div><div>This is a good question. I honestly have no idea what MH does. And he has quite a sensitive tummy. </div><div>
</div><div>Of course there are times that one of us lets one out accidentally. I will usually say "Oh! Excuse me! Hee hee hee" and I think he's said things like "Oops. Sorry."  And then we just go on about our business. </div><div>
</div><div>But more usually, I guess it would be more accurate to say I keep my gas silent around MH. And since I generally don't have stinky gas, it works out. I think it's b/c I'm a vegetarian. I have plenty of gas, it just truly doesn't not smell bad 97% of the time. </div><div>
</div><div>MH won't even SAY pee or poo. He says "I'm  going to use the restroom." or "I need to use the restroom." It's hilarious. :)</div><div>

Desert that is funny your husband is like that. I thought ALL guys were disgusting when it came to gas/bathroom stuff! I usually always close the door when I pee but if he's in the bathroom and I really gotta go then I don't care. I will NOT go #2 with him in the room though - I don't even want anyone close to the bathroom in case they can hear lol.
Liv, I usually hold it or leave the room- but you know what I get for holding it? I fart in my sleep so BF hears it anyways and makes fun of me. lol.I don't think I'll be able to always hold it when I'm awake for the rest of my life though! You know my dad has only heard my mom fart ONCE?! They've been together for about 30 years. I don't even know how that's possible.

All of those are great, but mine always seem insanse. He still finds me attractive when I'm covered in vapor rub and sick. We both hog the blankets and no one cares. He will tell me when my food sucks and not try to be nice.

This is probably going to sound weird, but my BF and I now live together and usually when one of us has to pee, the other just comes in the bathroom and does whatever we have to do at the sink or in the mirror or we'll have full on conversations with each other at the time the other is "busy", haha. When we first started dating there is no way I'd want him to be in the bathroom with me, let alone when I've got to go pee.

I agree with most of these for the most part. I don't pass gas where he can hear/smell (I'll do it under my blanket) and I don't go #2 with him around. But we talk and laugh about it and it's not big deal.

One of the things I personally DON'T agree with, though, is the not trying to dress up/look cute. I promised myself years ago that I'd never be the girlfriend that stops making an effort to look good for my man. Don't get me wrong.. when we're slumming around the house, I'm in PJs and no makeup. But when we go places, I always do my hair/makeup and dress cute. I find it almost disrespectful to look like crap in public with your S.O. just because you're in a relationship. Believe me, he wants to show you off.. give him something to show.

One of my good friends has gained 50lbs since dating her boyfriend and I just feel bad for the guy.

</div><div>Same exact here! (I'm not a vegetarian, though I eat like one most of the time) I am constantly under a massive blanket on the couch, and I just don't have noisy gas as is. Most of my gas goes completely undetected. He does it around me all the time, but I don't. I talk about poo all the time and let him know when I go poo (lol, i'm weird) but I just can't find myself passing gas in front of him.</div>

</div><div>Why? Would you feel badly for your..friend..if her BF gained weight too? I'm just wondering. If they're in a good relationship, he'll probably love her no matter what. I'd only "feel bad" for her because gaining 50 lbs probably isn't the healthiest thing for her unless she was underweight to begin with. </div><div>
</div><div>As for the dressing up part, why do you feel it's disrespectful? We have to be going somewhere really special for BF to really dress up (though he's been doing better at being more professional at work). Do you think it's disrespectful for BF to not dress "nicely" when he's out with me as opposed to vice versa because I don't feel the need to "show him off?" Just curious.
