The Fat Picture... AHHHH!!!

5lbs/week is a LOT.  I don't think any diet can promise that much weight loss. For most people, losing more than 2lbs per week isn't healthy.

Also, watch portion size.  That was the biggest shock for me when I realized I was eating 2+ servings of things in one sitting.  But now my body has totally adjusted to it, and I feel sick if I overeat.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: The Fat Picture... AHHHH!!! : It is NOT safe to lose that much per week.  It is also not likely that anyone will keep that sort of weight loss permanently.  In any sort of program, you should only be losing 1-2 lbs a week.

I need someone to make me exercise. I have gotten so stinkin lazy. I know that I don't need to lose any weight, but I definitely need to get in shape and get some exercise. With it getting so darn cold here during the winter that lasts forever it gets really easy to get really lazy (well in my opinion anyway.)

Yeah, I was thinking 5 lbs a week is a bit extreme!

Loopy, my FAVORITE cardio exercise is Zumba!  Seriously.  It is amazing.  If you can find a class near you or a gym that has it, I highly recommemd it.  When I was going 2-3 times a week, I was in amazing shape.  Most exercises classes do squat for me and I barely sweat.  This one left a great burn but was actually fun to get through.

I stopped drinking.  It sucks but no more empty calories.  Also keeping a food diary - sparkpeople is great!  And got a personal trainer.  It's helping but I wish it would go away super fast.  I know what you mean about fat pictures, it sucks.

BTW Oceana, I'm about to have a Cafe Steamer for lunch - love those so much more than Lean Cuisine!

Mutley - I had seen a listing for a Zumba class but had zero idea what it was. What do you do in that class?

It is somewhat like a high-intensity latin dance class.  However, you do not have to be a dancer to enjoy it.  There were all ages of women in my classes and even a few gay men.  I am sure you could try a class for free.  DOOO EEETTT!

(I was signed up for a local class, but then the 1st trimester sucktastic hit.  I am already looking forward to starting up again next January!)

You don't have to be a dancer, but do you have to have coordination? I have none. It's laughable how uncoordinated I am.

I am on an adult kickball league. That is usually fairly entertaining. But i'm not horribly athletic so I don't get much exercise there, hence the desire to find something to do.

I had that moment as well. Which sucked because I'm naturally a very petite (just under 95lbs) woman and I'm not really used to watching what I eat or having to exercise. I'm built very similarly to Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears (short legs, long torso, and large breasts) but 15 lbs easily takes me from Daisy Duke to um, fat chili cook-off singer.

I started boxing (not cardio kick boxing... fight club boxing) with a personal trainer that also forces me to build muscle and do body shaping exercises. After two months of weekly one hour sessions with him, I'm proud to say that I look smooooking hot. Time is valuable and I found that 1 hour a week with an expert gives me better results than several hours a week using gym equipment on my own. And I'm now probably the last chick anyone would want to mess with ;)
