Alternative to Sand or Candles

Hey ladies, so here is a little background. I have an almost 8 year old daughter, from a previous relationship, but her dad is not in the picture at all. At 3 she asked my fi if he could be her daddy, "because he is the best daddy ever" to quote exactly lol. Then we have a 2 year old daughter together. So I was thinking about forgoing the whole sand/candle ceremonies, and buying our girls neclaces and making it a unity ceremony (maybe matching ones for us too) what do you guys think?

You could still do the sand - with 4 complementing colors - taking turns pouring it in... I am doing the sand ceremony at my wedding - with 3 colors - I have a 13 year old (14 by the time we get married ) son who's father is not in the picture at all - I want him to take part in something wedding related and figured the sand ceremony with complimenting colors was the best way.
You could do jewelry or something like that  but the youngest really won't be able to wear it for long or get it - the sand you could keep on display forever..

    Just my thoughts :)

  • I think necklaces for both the girls is a great idea if that's what you and your FI want to do.  I think that will make them feel special and included too.

  • I've seen special vows written for the kids as well, from the parents to be. I like the idea of the necklaces, too though!

  • I found a few interesting ideas on offbeat brides:

If I did the circle of flowers I would say a poem as I am spreading them around us.
  • We are going to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich together. I am the jelly side and he is the peanut butter. It doesn't have to be that way, it depends if which one of you is more "nutty"
