Re: Morning

  • I watched all of those shows.  There was very little we weren't allowed to watch.  Actually I can't remember anything that we specifically weren't allowed to.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Morning : OMG Block Party Summer!  That was my favorite thing.  I'd marathon I Dream of Jeannie, I Love Lucy, and Bewitched.  Bewitched was my favorite.

Yep, those were the 3 that I watched! I also watched Munster Mondays sometimes.

  • I miss Camp Nick-at-Nite. It was on during the summer of 2002, and they showed blocks of shows from the 80s: The Cosby Show, Family Ties, Cheers, Coach, etc. It was awesome, and it got me through a very tough breakup. I'd watch it for hours, late into the night. I still remember the little theme song from the bump.
  • I wasn't allowed to watch MTV or VH1 at all until I was about 16 and pointed out how stupid it was that I had to hide in my bedroom while Dad watched Road Rules.  Then I was allowed to watch it only when he was.
  • I think I must have used up all my t.v. time before Nick at Night. I usually used up my t.v. time mid afternoon watching Full House. I was completely obsessed with that show.
  • I didn't really like You Can't Do That On Television. That's the one where people got slimed and water poured on them and stuff, right?

  • If dad was the only parent at home, he didn't care what we watched or did as long as we didn't kill each other or burn the house down, so we watched a lot of YCDTOT.
  • I wasn't allowed to watch MTV until I moved out to go to college. I think part of that was because they didn't want my younger sister to see any of it though. I still have no desire to watch any MTV shows.
  • We didn't have a set amount of tv time as long as we got our homework done.  I remember getting mad at my mom once because my best friend had a later bed time than we did, and her parents were 10x stricter than mine.  It seemed backwards.
  • I never had any restrictions on how much tv I could watch, and Salute Your Shorts is the only show I can remember being banned from, although we used to watch it anyway if my mom wasn't around. It worked out, we closed the door so she couldn't hear it and it's a glass door, so we could see her coming and quickly change the channel.

[QUOTE]Full House.  I watched that a lot as a kid too.  Now, when I got back and watch it, it annoys me.  The plots were stupid, the acting was bad, and the characters were annoying. I want to slap Michelle every time she talks.

This. It was my absolute favorite as a kid, but it's so cringe-worthy now.

  • I wasn't allowed to watch MTV at all, but after I had foot surgery when I was 15 and I had to stay home for two weeks, I cheated and watched Daria almost nonstop.

  • Haha I still enjoy Full House, although it definitely is really cheesy.

  • I wish we weren't allowed to watch MTV.  My brother talked in full on Beavis and Butthead mode for probably a solid year.
    imageBabyFruit Ticker
  • My mom was really strict about TV when we I was a kid-1/2 hour a day weekdays, 1hr on weekends. We didn't have cable, either.

  • I loved 90210.
  • Beavis and Butthead was so, so stupid.

  • There are all sorts of recommended TV restrictions for kids now, and I just can't bring myself to get on board with them when I didn't have them and I turned out just fine.

  • Man, the list of t.v. shows that were banned in my household is so long. Of course, by the time my youngest sister came around the rules had slackened a bit.

Oh, man, that was so sad. And when they figured out that Stephanie loved Dr. Bear so much because her mom gave him to her, when they watched the video of their mom? So, so sad.

When I was in HS there was a trombone player in the band who looked like Beavis.  Let's just say he had that nickname all throughout HS.

I get that, but I will be more consistent than my parents were with me, I think.  There's no way that I'll let my grade-school aged kids watch soap operas (provided they're still around then) and rated R movies.

    FTFY :)

I was a Full House fanatic.

  • Thanks, Snail! FI absolutely hates that pic of himself because he's smiling weird, but whatever. I like it of me, so I'm using it.

I think my neighbors are having a pool party. I wish we liked them so I could go.

Oops. I could lie and say it was a typo, but I got confused. My brother had a stuffed snoopy when he was a kid called Dr. Snoopy, I guess I got mixed up.

  • My house is so quiet right now. My parents, dogs and one of my sisters are down the shore and I have no idea where my other sister is. Probably at work. I think I'll get in the shower tonight at 7:29 just to piss her off.
