Post Christmas Blues- pity party

Hi guys, hopefully everyone had an amazing Christmas (some better than others Mutley and KD Smile). I, on the other hand, am having some post holiday blues. This upcoming year I don't have any vacations planned, work is going to be nuts and I just don't feel like I have anything to look forward to. It doesn't help that I'm back at work, BF is still on vacation, I'm hormonal and I took my Momma to the airport this morning.

Anyone care to join my party or possibly cheer me up?

I'm not much for pity parties, so I'll share something happy.

I was able to get up early this morning and get in a really good work out before work. Waking up early sucks but it's so worth it becuase I'm high on energy now and in a really good mood. One of the best ways I can think of to fight the post holiday blues. :-)

No matter what I do, my bra strap is showing today. I really like this shirt, but it's all slipping over my shoulder..... and bra straps are not really in style at a law firm.

Highly doubtful Button.  Jeana's right, bra straps really aren't in fashion around here.  Unless you're the partner's daughter.  Then you can wear whatever you want.  Not that I'm bitter.

My happy news:  FI and I decided on his wedding bands yesterday!  Yes he gets two.  One he absolutely loved, but it's really not appropriate for court, etc. so he gets to wear it when he's not at work.  The other is for work and for more formal occasions.  We bought the non-formal one yesterday, and I'm looking around for a formal one like the one he likes, but sold by people that can laser-engrave Tungsten (apparently Kay Jewelers doesn't).  Any advice on that would be awesome!  Here are the rings, though:

    Informal:

    Formal:

He loves pirates (go figure), so the informal ring just made sense.  The formal ring he loved because at first glance you're like "Oh, it's just another wedding band" but when you look closer you see that it's actually concave instead of convex like most rings.  :-)

I really like the concave ring. My friend used this place to engrave her rings once she had them http://www.infinitytungsten.com/laser-engraving.html.

I am actually cheered up now. I knew if other people were happy and having good days I would too!

Here's my 'pity' post.  I told my best friend our news this morning and she did not sound very excited.  I know she is having a hard time with the fact that we are so ready to have kids and they are not even close.  Plus now that she moved cross-country and we are only a little over an hour apart, she thought we'd be seeing each other all the time.  However, life/conflicting schedules seem to get in the way a lot.

Luckily, I immediately called another close friend who I knew would be super duper excited.  She was over the moon.

Mutley, *I* am over the moon, and I live waaaaay far away and have never even met you, so THERE.

    Tongue out

Button, you know how I love those badges! I'd have such an enormous siggy if I put in all the ones I like. How many pieces of flair do I need? Like 27? I'd do it if I only posted on NEY.

I'm glad you're feeling cheered up, hetshup!

In terms of having something to look forward to -- I know how this feels. What helps me is to plan something  to look forward to!

Sometimes I'll plan a mini vacation for FI and I. Even if it's just an overnight in the next town over, staying in a hotel and going out for dinner and a movie feels more special when it's out of our normal environment, and it's usually not too expensive. Maybe give that a try?

Acro -- I love the formal ring, and the informal one, I have to say, makes me grin. :)

Mutley -- isn't it nice to have all of us e-strangers on the NEY board be uberexcited for you?!

I'm glad you're getting cheered up hetshup!  And I like desert's idea about a mini vacation to give yourself something to look forward to.  We might go to Napa in the spring.  Has anyone ever been there?

I'm not sure if this is a pity post or a happy one:
It's been so much fun spending everyday at my sisters to hang out with my niece.  But she's only a week old and I have to go back to FL on Sunday.  I just feel like I'm going to miss so much.  She's so cute already!

On the other hand, I'll finally get to see FI again.  I haven't seen him in weeks.  Plus my new bedroom and bathroom will be finished when I get there so I'm pretty psyched about that!

Well, we are going to try to plan a white water rafting trip, but every time that I plan a weekend away BF likes to schedule work that weekend. It's awesome, I thwart his plans and he thwarts mine! YAAAYYY!

Ana-- You might want to try the Santa Ynez valley instead of Napa, great wine, food and it's much cheaper. Napa can be somewhat of a tourist trap. My family lives in Paso Robles which is in that area and you can go to Cambria, San Luis Obisbo or Pismo additionally. OR the Monterrey Bay aquarium!! Just thinking about those otters makes me happy. Ana, you are made of Win for having me suggest that. Have I mentioned that I lurve science?

Haha thanks!  And thanks for the tips!  I'll definitely remember to talk to you before we start making plans.  I don't know anything about the area.  We both have free roundtrips flights (2.5 years of LDR) and we decided to use them for something fun.  I don't think either of us have been to CA and I love wine so it seems like a good idea.

OMG, you guys, we visited with friends until 1am and I am so exhausted right now!

It was 2 of FI's groomsmen who moved away, we only see them maybe twice a year. They're awesome guys and we had a fantastic time playing Munchkin (awesome D&D parody game)... but boy am I feeling it now.

I think I love you.  We had one of our friends tell us he was buying us a copy of this game for our wedding because we can't find it in a regular store to register for it and every time he comes down to visit I literally BEG him to bring it.  He also got me hooked on Arkham Asylum.

Acro- I made my BF buy me a ring similar to your FI's formal ring. My BF hates that I wear it and calls it my "man ring". I guess you proved him right, LOL. But I love the styling of it and it's so much different than any other ring you guys will find out there.

I'm late to the pity party but joining in.  It doesn't look like we'll be able to do anything fun for my birthday and it's made me really moody and upset.  FI wants to go out on New Year's but I am so not in the mood.
