Anyone 'round these parts?

Re: Anyone 'round these parts?

• I thought that was weird when he told me not to smile. He even said that I had to put my hair behind my ears.

I never had to do this for a passport photo and this is my 3rd one.
• I don't get why people can't smile in their passport pictures. I always want to smile when I get my passport picture because all I can think of is where I'm going.
• My passport has me with a big ass smile on my face. So whoever says its not allowed...well... the US govn't let me slide by with a smile.

• Lucky duck MuSu! I look pissed in mine. Apparantly if I'm not smiling I look like a straight bitch. True story, I've been told I look like a bitch on more than one occasion.
• Nah I look bitchy too, Aryn. Either that or like a mug shot. My first passport was awful. I got it when I was 14 and my dad decided that the day I was home sick from school was a good time to go get my photo taken. I had the most swollen glands EVER and so I look like 50-60+ pounds heavier than I am. No joke, I would get comments from airport security about how I look great after losing the weight.

• I got my passport in 2010.

• Being productive is always nice. I was able to smile a bit in my passport and my drivers license photos. I don't understand the whole thing about not being able to smile. But to me most photos for government IDs look like mug shots even with smiles.

• I hate the photo I have right now. I always heard if you look like your passport photo, you should go home.
I was pissed when I had to tuck my hair and not smile.
• Hmm well I got my first passport where I look fat in 2004, and my second one in 2010. Both times I smiled. Weird.

• I can't remember if I'm smiling in mine or not. I know I'm not smiling in my license, it's an awful pic.
• Does anyone do irrational things? Every time I put a load in the dryer, even though I know for certain that there is not a cat inside the dryer, I ALWAYS have to reopen the dryer and make sure. Then I take a head count of all the cats just to make sure. Pretty sure that is not normal.

• KJB, I did that when I lived with my parents. Now that the laundry room isn't part of my apartment I don't.

• This just reminded me that I need to go get a new passport. I'm hoping we can go to Canada this summer.
• I want to go to Canada in the fall! Not sure what part though.

• I have no idea what part we would go to either. I just really want to go.
• And my phone ate my post about the irrational things that I do but I do stuff like that too.
• We were planning on going to Canada this summer but have to get E a passport first. That picture is going to be interesting to take.

• I am one of those Americans that knows nothing about canada. So I'll have to do some research :)

• I have literally no desire to go to Canada. I don't see the appeal, TBH. I also hate cold weather and all I picture when I think of Canada is snow.
• I've been to Victoria twice and it was beautiful. We were planning to go to Vancouver BC to see the Sounders play the Whitecaps.

• I was allowed to smile in my license picture when I got it in December and FI and I were both allowed to smile in our PP pictures. That's weird that you're not supposed to.

I also check the washer/dryer for cats and do a head count. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if one of the cats got stuck in the washer or dryer and died.

[QUOTE]I loved Vancouver, BC. It was beautiful. There were maple leaves as big as my head.

What?! That's pretty cool. Our next big trip we hope to do is a bike across the US next summer. I've never been further west than the Mississippi River so it would be super cool to actually do it.

• We went to Buffalo in 2010 to see my family and went to Niagara. I would love to go to the Canadian side of the falls. Now that we have passports, we can actually go next time we make the trip to NY.
• If you go up to the canadian side of Niagra....go a little further north...an extra half hour (if that) and you are in Ontario's wine country....it can be beautiful! Just stay out of St. Catherine's... :)

I used to go to Ontario quite a bit...but i haven't been in a couple years.
• I want to go to Banff. I've never been to Canada. I'm a horrible Minnesotan.

• Question:

If it's okay to pierce your baby's ears without their consent, can you pierce something like their nose too? I mean whose idea was it that piercing a baby's ears was socially acceptable but other piercings on a baby are not?
• With some people it is more of a cultural thing to have baby girls ears pierced than socially. I think a lot of people do it as to not traumatize their daughters later. I had mine done when I was 3 and it was horrific and I screamed bloody murder. I don't know about piercing other parts of the body but all the piercing places I've ever gone to won't let you get anything else pierced if you are under 16 even with parental consent.

• Hey everyone!

For the person who asked - you aren't supposed to smile in passport photos now because neutral expressions are easier for facial recognition software.

We recently had a chili cookoff at work and we won! There was an audible "WTF, the TAX GROUP won!?" but we had fun. I don't think I'll ever want chili again, though.

• Hi Geaux! Yay for your win in your chili cookoff.

My FIL just sent H a text asking if things are okay between FIL and I. Needless to say he still hasn't apologized for overstepping boundaries and being a jerk to H when he confronted him about it.

• My pediatrician pierced my ears when I was like 6 months old.
