I even went to three other people and offered to pay them $100 if they'd take this event for me, and one of them is moving this weekend, one of them is taking care of her friend's kids, and the other needs to find a sitter so she's about 50/50 on whether or not she can do it. I don't like those odds, but I suppose they're better than nothing. She's supposed to get back to me tonight.

I mean, if worse comes to worse, I'll do the goddamned event and push our plans to Monday, which will suck since I have to work Tuesday, but whatever. Looks like they're really trying to bleed me dry before I leave here.

I just didn't want to have to worry about anything this weekend, and now it's all I can think about.

Oh Erin yes - they can actually change their voices too. Pretty effed up.

I think that type of scam is usually used for the grandparent scam - like when a grandma gets a call from her "grandkid" who has been injured in Mexico or something and they need grandma to wire money to pay the hospital bills. Stuff like that. Course they could use it for lots of other scams.

Girlie, I know there's an app that allows you to pick a phone number that you want your number to be displayed as. It's fun to use as a prank, but I know when the app came out people were concerned that it would be used for scamming. That sounds kind of suspicious.

Oh I have another work email rant. I work for a huge company, and we have several side companies and lots of affiliates. Because of this, we have quite a few celebrities in our global address list in outlook. A lot of the youngster and interns like to add the celebrities on lunch invites and stuff. It's so freaking stupid, and I'm sure that it pisses them off to have their emails filled with junk. Knock it off fuckers.

If so this clears up everything for me, I was in the military also, and I remember the difference between military and civilian life, which is mainly the fact that you dont have the option to say no. I am soo sorry, and hope you are still able to enjoy a part of your staycation......

jcb - if it weren't for the direct line thing, I'd buy that about my mom. But it's impossible for that number to show up on caller ID if I was truly calling her from work.

gurly - I went through that in November. It sucks big time! But WF is really quick about this stuff which is good.

Gurly-when you get your new card (besides keeping it in your wallet <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />) Instead of signing the back put on it "see ID", it cant guarantee they cant buy at the pump, but it can help with inside transactions. Yep, both H and I are military, so basically if someone outranks us says "jump" we have to say "how high?". I just wish my warrant officer had more of a backbone and called this guy out on the stuff he pulls. Thinking back, this isn't the first (or second) time he's done something like this. This guy just got reprimanded a few weeks ago, too, he got written up and everything. Dude, if I had a negative performance write-up done on me and put in my permanent record, I'd be kissing so much ass that my nose would be brown.

I can rant about work - I always get asked to do a ton of voiceovers with a deadline, so I used to just do them right away to get the work over with. But then they would call a couple days later and say "oh we changed these ones, re-do them" and it would be like, half the stuff I did.

So last week I waited til the LAST MINUTE to do these things and then the other day they still emailed me wanting me to re-do some of them. THEFUCKPEOPLE.

FI gets on me all the time when he sees it loose in my purse. This isn't the first time I've lost my debit card, but it's the first time someone has actually used it. With the luck I've had with debit cards, I should just switch to cash/check only lol.

KD-I've seen that on a few CC's at work.

From what it looks like, whoever has it just used it at the pump and that's it. I don't keep my PIN with it so there was no money withdrawn from my account, thank God.

I ran gas stations for 20 years so I've seen it all. See ID works great. And I like that the stations around here now makes you punch in your zip code attached to the billing address before it lets you pump. But, it still doesnt stop everything.

I have a wristlet inside my purse that I keep all my CC's in I make sure as soon as I use it, it goes back in the pouch. Make a habit of it, once it's a habit, it will be hard to break.

I asked my mom like three weeks ago to pick up our wedding picture disc from our photog (who kept it for a year after our wedding and also an additional six-ish months). We are having a family reunion this weekend so she told me she'd bring it to me then.

But now she's not getting it til Tuesday for whatever reason. So yeah.

I have waited way too flucking long for that Godforsaken disc.

Eh not really. My mom says she just "never gets to town" in the evenings when the guy is home. My dad is in the fields right now. I wouldn't bother my grandma to do it and neither one of my sisters would <em>want</em> to, which is a whole 'nother thing.

Omg my mom just told me some interesting news.

When dad and mom divorced last year, the divorce decree stated he had to take my mom off all the loans he had to take over (mortgage/car/credit card) and she had to take him off the ones she took. She took dad off the right ones but dad hasn't been able to take her off them because he is still behind on all of them.

She was talking to the lawyer, and apparently the courts will now be getting him for contempt by not following the contract and he could get fines and/or jailtime. Am I a horrible daughter for hoping he gets the jail time? He needs a kick in the ass so bad. Fines won't do it cz it's just money.
