  • OP- Your ring is beautiful. Your first post does make you sound unappreciative.
First, Thank you for the pic of the ring on your hand, because it looks proportionate on your hand, and that is more important  than the actual size of the diamond. Second, think long term. I don;t know how old you are, but let's say you are 25 now. How are you going to feel about such an elaborate ring  (like the other example you posted) in another 25 years? The ring your FI proposed with will grow on you, because when you look at it you will realize why you have it and that will be a lot bigger than any stone you could ever get. It is also a fairly modern ring, but still classic enough to be worn for a lifetime without going out of "style".

  • Yikes! I don't usually post on here, but this popped up on the hot topics and I don't even know where to start!

Complaining about the size of your diamond does make you sound like a brat, theres no way around it.

When my FI and I first started looking at engagement rings we were both a little sticker shocked! I knew diamonds were expensive, but I was a little naive about how expensive. For me, size of the ring wasn't important. It was the symbolism that we were taking the next step, committed to becoming married to one another. He could've put a piece of twine around my finger and I would've been happy! With that being said, I love my ring and think he did an amazing job picking it out.

By the looks of some of your other posts, not only do you have an upset FI but an upset BP. I think you need to get your priorities straight with your relationships and stop focusing on materialistic objects.

  • 1st question: When you picked out styles and showed him pictures, did you take into account the price ?  I think most would love a Tiffany 2 carat ring but those are $20K so obviously, we're not crying when we don't get a 2 carat, much less Tiffany brand.
We love what we are given.

2nd question: Did the ring he gave you within your means of living/budget?  You don't need to get into debt over a ring.

I suggest suck it up and go with him to buy your w bands together. Then you'll be happy.

  • I could be sympathetic to the style being something that you do not like but wanting a bigger stone because the one he got you is too small is SOOOO superficial.

Have him get you a CZ if you're into large, flashy stones.  They cost a fraction of the amount with comparable vitreous properties.  You're probably too good for that though, so just tell him to squander away more of his money on vanity purchases so you can make your friends uber jealous and your future husband go poor at the same time.

  • Your ring is beautiful, I really don't know what you're complaining about. Your fingers look small, so it makes the diamond look bigger.

And ditto everything everyone else said. Not gonna get into it, lol.
