[QUOTE]Blue- That's exciting! Do you have any recommendations from anyone? When we first moved here, I just picked one that was on a list from my insurance company and it was a shiity place/experience.  I'm still really pissed off about the shock collar from yesterday. I called the place all day and they won't call me back. I've done some more digging online and here this lady, who runs a training boot camp, isn't even a certified dog trainer. She also owns and is the director of a business that "trains" service dogs for kids with autism. It's so shady. She isn't even a certified trainer.

<div>Ick. Can you leave reviews online anywhere? Call the BBB? I don't really know what you can do, but I'd be so livid.</div>
  • Hike- I missed the shock collar discussion?  But if someone ever used one on Gia i would rip their fucking face off.

  • Yeah I definitely missed something on the shock collar thing.  I can't even imagine my dog in a shock collar, fucking life.

  • Well, I went to go pick up Ike and Geno from the boarding place yesterday. It's run by a lady who owns lots of land. I thought it would be best because they let the dogs run around all day.

Anyway, I went and Ike had a shock collar around his neck. I asked her about it and she kinda ignored me and then let the dogs out of the gate. They RAN at my mom and me and they were so excited to see us because they hadn't seen my mom since Christmas. Anyway, in the chaos of trying to get them in the car, the lady started talking on her cell phone and went inside and never came back out. I tried calling all day today but got nothing.

I wrote reviews and filed a complaint with the BBB but I'm still really fucking pissed off and fired up.

Good. I still hope you get a hold of her and give her a piece of your mind.
  • Oh, wow, I would lose my mind, Hike. Good for you for filing a complaint, though.
  • I KNEW something was weird because Sunday night, at 9, I got a phone call from her and she said, "When are you coming to get your dogs?." I said, "Uhhh, Monday at 1 like I talked about?" and she was like "I have to find something to do with them." and then hung up without saying goodbye.

I called back like 15 times and it went to voice mail. I left her voicemails saying that I was 45 minutes away but would come and get them. She never answered and never picked up. I couldn't just got to get them because they lock their gates after hours and it was after hours.

Koda, I don't think locking it up is rude at all.

No. I mean, is this someone you think might go in and drink the wine? If not, then I might just say "Hey, we set aside THESE bottles of wine for you to enjoy." and point out the ones that are hers.

Otherwise, just lock it. Too bad for her.
  • Hike- I would have punched her right in the face.

I boarded Gia once and she came home so traumatized and had a broken toe.  I swore I would never do it again.  We just pay H's cousin to house/dog sit when we go on vacations.  Thank God we have her.

<div>I wish we knew people down here or someone we were close enough to ask to watch two dogs. Ugh. We had a wonderful place in Virginia and our dogs loved it there. They got so pumped when we would turn on the street. Luckily my dogs are pretty happy go lucky and they were fine after we got home. I'm more upset than they are.</div><div>
</div><div>I just keep wondering what happened there that I didn't know about. You know? She had her service dogs there that she was "training" and before we got Ike and Geno out of the fence, she was SCREAMING bloody murder at the dogs to get them inside. Like yelling this shrill, top of her lungs yell AND swearing at them. </div>

YOu just ahve to find a good place. We board Bax and he loves it.  It's his only real chance to play with other dogs and he comes home worn out and blissed out.  Not all boarders are psychos, believe me.

Im not sure, but she wasnt fixed at the time and what I think happened was there were male dogs nearby bothering her?  The place was really nice, it had indoor/outdoor kennels and we paid for extra "cuddle" time (lol, i know i know).  But she is so used to being inside and comfy and always around us that i think she just got scared and tried to get out?

Re: shock collars - a friend of mine in highschool had one for her dog and we were hanging out one night (and stoned) and kept making it go off and shock eachother. It hurt like a fucking biitch! We all weighed considerably more than the dog it was intended for too.
  • Lucy's boarding place is pretty nice.  And they have web cams, so you can log on and watch, lol.  We don't board her often though, it's always a last resort.  Last time we did was last fall and she got sick from another dog.  So what initially was roughly 100 bucks in boarding - became an additional 250 bucks in vet bills.  Yay.

  • We board Bax at the PetsHotel at Petsmart and it's ridiculous. They have the "Bone Booth" where you can call and talk to your dog, doggie ice cream and snack add-ons, and half day/full day  options for Day Camp. Plus their regular walks. TBH, he probably gets treated better there then at home :P He always comes home hoarse and we crack up imagining how much running and barking he did.

I'll have to look up Petsmarts around here and see if they have one with a hotel.

  • Damnit Nates, no petsmart hotel here. I have 3 places I'm going to go visit before hand for a tour. Hopefully one will be a good match. I have to go out of town twice when H will be deployed.

  • The oen we board him at in IN is pretty low key, but they let us go back into the enclosed area and visit with him whenever we want, so we do appreciate that.

We chose Petsmart because Bax is on a wellness plan with Banfield, which is affliated with Petsmart.  We like the care he gets there. But, seriously, I can't lie--all the add-ons are pretty ridiculous. He doesn't need ice cream and shiit. I do like that they give a progress (paw-gress) report, though, and monitor everything--his eating habits, bathroom habits, sleeping habits--so you know how he did and they write personal comments.  Bax ALWAYS get "party animal" marked off, so I really wonder what all he does all day.
  • I board Paisley at a local place here that has large kennels and two separate indoor/outdoor play areas (one for large dogs and one for small).  She loves it there.

And they do temperment testing on all the dogs before they accept them to make sure they aren't dog/people aggressive.  They also have cameras set up (but the software only works on Windows computers and I have a Mac...grrr).

  • I have not had to board Sadie, but when my parents had their dog they took him to this place that was really over the top.  He had his own room, a huge bed, a TV, and got all kinds of special treatment.  They spent a small fortune on it when they went to Hawaii last summer.

  • Can I vent?

Completely selfish and petty I assure you.

So last week I showed my mom the before and after weight loss pic I did.  She hasn't said one positive thing to me this entire time and I thought maybe she just wasn't seeing it (like me) and that the pic would help.  I got a "that's nice" and a brushoff.  so I'm all "the hell with you".

Today my sister calls me to ask for the pic so she can give it to mom. Because she wants it to show somebody at work.  Oh heck no!  No one's flashing a pic of my flabby self all over.  Especially to strangers.  Why would she even want to if she obviously was less that impressed anyway?
