Not you Loopy!

Anyway so I was perusing the (totally lame but you know you read it) call out site and saw a call out to the mod of the Favors board. This got my attention because, seriously, what kind of shenanigans can go down on the Favors board?

Apparently, someone is gettiing a little power hungry over there. Check it out, only if you're bored (which you probably are if you are reading NEY at 7pm

). Start the stickies!

The Favors board makes my head explode. I can only can go there when I'm feeling really relaxed.

She is messed up. Her standard advice (as well as the advice in her special stickies) is to give something edible as a favor. One poster said they were giving jars of green tea and her response was that it was a bad idea because "Not everyone likes green tea". What??? Name one edible favor that EVERYONE likes. What is this ONE universally appealing edible favor that everyone MUST present to their guests?

And why doesn't it have it's own sticky?

I did in fact. Doubt it will do much as I don't have the best rep amongst the mods myself but saying "don't be rude to the mod" like she had some real power after she just blasted someone's water bottles they were excited about crossed the line.

I haven't been on the favors board. I was thinking to myself reading this, if she is not very helpful or power hungry. Is there any way you ladies can report this, and maybe vote for a new mod? I really don't know how all this works, just a thought.

The odds of pleasing everyone with favors are petty slim. They're not important. I would only suggest that people spend very little on them. This way, if people don't take them home, not much has been lost.

Yeah I agree favors can be pretty lame and people spend too much time and money on them....didn't stop me from having my kick ass Adirondack chairs though, which techically were just escort cards not favors, but whatever, it's their money, let them spend it how they want.

I can see if someone asked "should I do wine bottle stoppers or chocolate covered strawberries?" that people should weigh in on their preferences but when someone says "where can I find flip flops?" there's no need to get all crazy.

I agree.

I just don't understand why people freak about them so much. It's a gift. I would never judge someone based on their favor or lack thereof. If I don't like it, BFD. I would imagine most people feel that way.

The only things I don't like (besides donations) are anything monogrammed or labeled. I don't want a picture frame with my name printed on it, why would my guests?

I remember her being on here. Here's the think, do I think that edible favors as a whole are more appreciated than much else? Yes. Does that mean everyone should have edible favors? NO! Donations don't bother me either. I can see where they are controversial but, meh.

My cousin and his wife did bars of soap from Syracuse Soapworks, a local all-natural soap company. It was a really cook idea! I loved it because they supported a local business and because it is something that is consumable. Even if you put it out when you're having guests over, it's something that can be used.

I'm doing personalized miniature candy bars. This falls under her approved list of favors but I know already that my cousin and aunt will not be able to eat them because they are allergic to chocolate (it's for them that we got two flavors of cake). Edible favors are not foolproof.

I like how she says the water isn't a good favor because you throw away the bottle later. Uh...you do that with jam cans too. And I couldn't stop myself from saying so

There is cute favors to guest can get use out of. I'm not sure where my sister found them, but they got matches boxes. They said the perfect match, and had their names.

I'm sure glad i'm not the mod from hell. I suppose it would be kind of hard to be seeing as that my life has been INSANE the past 2 weeks. I can't wait for it to be calm and normal again.

OK, so I had to follow suit and head over there (oops, suit is a playing card reference, that's one of the favors she doesn't like, guess I'm in trouble). WOW is all I can say. Next time we have a newbie complaining around here, let's just send them over to favors and see what they think.

Even though I'm doing edible favors, I'm sure she wouldn't like mine cause they're probably going to be too small: a mini muffin cup filled with m&m's (my favorite candy) and a mini reeces peanut butter cup (FI's favorite candy) and a card with a starlight mint tied onto it (their after-dinner mint) that will say something totally corny like "thanks for sharing our special day - it mint so much".
