[QUOTE]It's okay, Poke. I decided I needed glow in the dark stickers all over my wall by my bed. A few weeks later I peeled them off and took the paint with them. I also insisted that I needed blue carpet when we were getting the carpets redone. It was nice until blue wasn't my favorite color anymore. I was stuck with that blue carpet until I moved out to college. Not sure why my parents let me get the blue. My kid is going to be stuck with a neutral.

<div>My parents let me pick a rose colored carpet for my room when they built a new house.  I was 5.  What were they thinking?  By the time I was 8, I was Tomboy to the max and HATED pink.</div>
  • So DH is trying to find his hotel for the week. They just moved. The address on my hotel list is wrong and the front desk clerk doesn't know the new address. WTF? He found the sign and can't find the road.

    Poor guy.

  • My friends step dad will be doing some work in the basement to make it better for her and her baby to live in. It's like 98% finished and only needs a few little things done. They're not going to pay a deposit and I think we're going to give them a discounted rent because of it, but I also gave him a case of beer and box of wine from the wedding. He seemed pleased.

  • Steffi, that sucks big time for your H. We recently used our GPS to find a Target when we were on a trip and the Target had long-since been abandoned. Luckily, it had just moved down the street a way, so we were able to find our way there.
  • Loopy - I have decided that all permanent features of a room will be neutral. That way we can change out the bedding and other accents easily. Even paint isn't that difficult to change. '

I first got to decorate the room with pink wallpaper with carousel horses on them. The blinds also were covered with pink wallpaper. They never were changed. Blue carpet and pink blinds.

  • I never could understand why my parents wouldn't let me get the red carpet I wanted when I was little.
  • Loopy - how are you feeling these days? Has the 2nd trimester energy kicked in yet?

Re: Getting to pick out room designs as a kid:

When I was 8, we moved to a new house, and I remember I had the CRAZIEST idea for a room design. Thankfully, I changed my mind, but it included:

Zebra-striped (think early 90s style--almost zig-zag) baseboards and walls. I also wanted my dresser painted this way, and lots of solid-colored stuff too.

I don't think I EVER owned anything zebra-print as a kid. It was just an idea that I had that I thought would look phenomenal. I had a mental picture for it and everything...and looking back....EW.

<div>That sounds lovely Jess. Why did you change your mind? ; )</div>
  • I eventually ended up with a white wallpaper with blue vines with pink and blue flowers off of them, and blue bedding with the rose carpeting.  But yeah - neutral for anything not cheaply and easily redone.

Actually, come to think of it, every house my parents have bought since then (until the one they built while I was in college) came with a pink bedroom in it for the "daughter of the house" that I promptly had to paint a not-pink color.  As the only girl child I automatically got whichever room was pink when my parents bought it.  Ugh.  I STILL can't stand pink.

<div>My 14YO picked screaming hot pink carpet for her room. It's cheap, nasty carpet because no mill in their right mind would manufacture such a color in a quality rug. Fortunately, my brother owns a flooring store. This is her duvet and the carpet is almost that same wild hot pink. Sunglasses are required upon entering her room. Clearly, she has me wrapped around her finger. </div><div>

  • So I'm guessing your nursery won't have pink in it if you have a baby girl Loopy?

It's kind of funny from my end, but not so funny from his end.

I bought him a new Magellan GPS for his birthday last year, it's much nicer than the Tom Tom he'd had for years, but even Magellan can't help him out tonight.

  • Jess - I'm feeling pretty good.  Not napping every day like 1st tri, but still just feeling more run down than pre-pregnancy

I wanted to splatter paint my room at one point with a bunch of different colors.  My mom wouldn't let me. :(  It would have been AH-MAZING.
  • THe only thing I was every allowed to do to my room was put those glow in the dark stars all over my ceiling.  Even after they were taken town my grandma told me a few months ago I could put them back up if I wanted.  I guess at 25 I could have a glow in the dark ceiling

My energy came back around week 20, and it only just now starting to go away at week 30. Are you going to find out the gender?

    <div>Dang moms. </div><div>

  • Ha.  I'm planning on using yellow and grey in the nursery.  I can add blue or purple accents after the baby's born if I feel the need to "gender it up" a little.  But yeah - with all the hiking/camping/outdoor stuff H and I like to do, we will probably have a prissy, pink loving little girl to spoil :)  Not gonna lie - some of the baby girl pink stuff is pretty cute.
  • Team green to the end :)

<div>Ooooh! Yellow and grey! I love that color combination for a nursery!</div>
  • Your nursery sounds pretty, Loop.

We just built and had a designer do almost the whole house. It was really weird to NOT do it all myself.

  • I have a girl vibe from Fruit Loop's ticker.

  • Willy I love that duvet! I would have that in our bedroom if DH would go for it.

<div>That sounds like a lovely color scheme. I am absolutely in love with the idea of fairies for a nursery. So the walls will probably be an outdoorsy green color, with fairie decorations. Kind of a magical woods theme, ya know?</div><div>
    </div><div>Yeah, I'm SUCH a girl. And a nerd. </div>
  • The colors for the nursery sound adorable!

  • There's NO WAY I could have been Team Green.

Waiting for Christmas presents is torture to me, so I had to find out the gender.

But on the flip side, we aren't doing any 3D/4D ultrasounds. I want the baby's appearance to be a surprise. I should at LEAST get points for that! ;)
