Well I have not gotten the ring yet!

Ive been almost 8 years in december with my boyfriend.. and I am 23 years old.. I just graduated last year (Law) and graduated (4 years ago) in law also...

Should I be worried??
and suggestions????
WE have talked about it.. but the economic crisis has really hit both of us..

I think the "dating" stage was just right for us, though I had been bugging him about a ring since late 2009 (and he actually purchased it by then, but enoyed making me wait for it...sadist

). We are waiting a little over a year to get married because we wanted a ceremony in the summer, but didn't want to be rushed in the planning from March to June. So far I am thrilled that we waited. I am in the midst of helping a friend plan a wedding in 5 weeks and know that I would go CRAZY under that pressure for my wedding.
It all comes down to doing what is right for you and your man!

I knew Scott for a month shy of a year before we started dating.
Once we started dating it was only six and a half months later he proposed (and that was too long)!
We're getting married six and a half months after engagement, and one year, one month after dating, and exactly two years of when we met!

My lovely man and i have been together for 1 year and 10 months before we got engaged!

We would like to get married sooner but we wanted to have time to get a place of our own etc.... so when we do tie the knot it will have been about 3 years and 6 months.

My fiancee and I got engaged after 8 months and are having a 19 month engagement because we wanted a summer wedding and didn't want short planning period (which I'm thankful for now!) And we wanted to wait until he finished grad school.
When we get married we will have been together 2 years and 3 months. I think everyone is different but for us it was like When you know, you know so why wait?!

Obviously, I'm going to be a minority.

We met in November of 2009, he expressed interest in marrying me to my parents after about 1.5 weeks and sat down with them. We started planning things out and I met with my venue the next month. Our religious ceremony was in April 2010, just under 6 months and we've been married but have not been living together. Our Reception is in 16 days, December 2010. I've known him for 1 year, we're already married religiously and we will officially start our married life after the reception, a whopping 1 year and 3 weeks after meeting.

We're madly in love with each other, with our families and dying to get on with our future. Hey, when you know, you know!

FI and I got engaged on our fifth dating anniversary. We are getting married on 6/13/11, so just a few months shy of a year engagement. We were in high school when we started dating though, so it would take longer.

I actually thought we'd be engaged for two years, cuz I figured we'd graduate college first, but when we figured out we'd be able to do it sooner...We were not about to wait!

We met in college through mutual friends - he was 19 and I was 21. From the first conversation we had, we were inseparable. We moved in together after 6 months, and after a year we bought a car together and had a joint bank account. We knew we'd be together forever - we talked about our future all the time. It wasn't until almost 5 years in to the relationship that he proposed. And when we get married (12/18/10!!) it will be the first day of our 7th year together.

2 years 9 months, We bought a ring a week ago and I am still waiting, uggghhh, I have my own diamond that I wear there while I am waiting on the sizing but it is so tough knowing that it is going to be a month more.

My HTB (Hubs To Be as I call him) and I have been together (through thick and thin) for just over 8 years now. We got engaged at just about 7.5 years and our engagment is 1.5 years. We were both perfectly happy the way things were going and the fact that we both come from "broken homes" made us extreemly cautious about entering into the legal committment of marriage. So now we're finally going for it and will have been together for almost 9 years by the time our special day roles around.

A month after we started dating my FI was in a really bad car accident so when he got out of the hospital 2 weeks later I moved in to help him adjust to life . He proposed on our 1 year anniversary and we will have a 15 month long engagement so that our wedding can be a summer wedding!

We got together in 7/2006 and were engaged 4 years, 2 months later in 9/10. I'm 28 and he's 29, and we've known each other since we were 15/16 years old. He was my best friend then and we never thought of being more until we were in our early-mid 20s. We're planning a wedding sometime in spring 2012.
He told me if he had the money before he would have asked sooner but I'm okay with waiting and was actually surprised when he asked. He thought he took too long though. We don't plan on living together until we are married or closer to then.

well, we met in 8th grade (9 years ago!) and have been dating for almost 5 years, having been engaged since july! we're getting married june 24! 216 days!! we would have gotten engaged/married sooner- but we're finishing up school first.

i think age has a lot to do with how long a couple waits, as I've known he was the man i was going to marry before we'd even been dating a month!

Wow, I can't imagine waiting 8 years to get engaged! We started dating a month after we met.

We got engaged after dating for 6 months!

When we get married we will have been together for almost exactly 18 months!

He is Air Force, so we didn't really have years to wait, but we both knew pretty early on that God put us together forever! (actually, I knew the first time I met him, but it took him a few months to catch up.)

yeah right!!! we only waited about 10 months until he popped the question but our "offical" with the church and all was 1 year and 7 months after we meet and 5 months before the wedding
