FI and I like to drink lol, but who wants all the calories of a typical mixed drink; anyone got any recipes for low-cal stuff that actually tastes good?
One I came up with about two weeks ago is for a mojito. I love mojitos but FI didn't want them because the simple syrup (aka sugar water) was a good 150 calories alone before you even factor in the booze. So I made one with Bacardi silver, fresh mint, a packet of Sun Crystals (cane sugar + stevia = 5 calories), mash it up with some ice, squeeze out about half a lime into it, fill the rest of the glass with ice and top it off with seltzer water. Tastes nearly identical to simple syrup but now the only calories are the rum (about 80 per shot) and the 5 from the Sun Crystals.
Another one that she likes that we ripped off from Blue Martini bar is the Skinny Bitch but with some changes. Theirs is blueberry vodka, pomegranate juice, truvia, blueberry puree and a lemon wedge. They claim it's 200 calories but the pomegranate they use is 200 calories alone, I've seen the bottle and it's the generic pomegranate drink mix bottle you can get at the liquor store. We came up with something that tastes about the same and should only be about 150 calories in real life if made reasonably strong. Use Three Olives berry vodka (not blueberry), Ocean Spray Light pomegranate juice which is only about 5 calories for 8 ounces, a packet of Sun Crystals to bring back the sweetness lost by not using the high-cal pomegranate mix, you can grind up real blueberries into it if you'd like but not sure how many calories those add, shake in ice or blend up to make a frozen drink, pour in martini glass.
