Yeah me too actually, because really if you want advice, you want people to read the entire story.  Cliffs notes don't have enough information to make informed opinions in my opinion.

Well, that's unfortunate, but not surprising. I was kind of hoping it could be contained here.

    Ditto Shelly on POLL.

  • I like the idea of Cliffs Notes, but they are usually so poorly done they don't give the right gist of the story. For example, if you are asking if you can yell at your MIL for wearing an ugly dress, I don't need to know what stores she shopped in and what your wedding colors are.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Knot Lingo (Poll-ish) :  Seriously though, before this weekend, I haven't seen MUD used in ages.  And beebee.  They just seem like old terms to me.  I don't think any of us use them anymore.  That just MY opinion though, it's okay if others think they are still common terms and cool and fine. I also hate "wedding porn".

oh yeah weird! I see it used all the time on other boards.

Most Cliffs Notes are so vague and biased that you're pretty much forced to read the whole ten paragraphs anyway.

You mean, the CN: "FMIL being a huge bitch, can I uninvite her?" is not acceptable CN for "I'm being a total bridezilla and trying to make FMIL wear a modified BM dress that looks horrible on her in a terrible color and she's kindly suggesting that she'd like to wear something else"?

Everything the light touches is my kingdom.
  • Haha! Sadly, I've seen CN like those before.

Obviously.  Because your FMIL, like your BMs, is a prop who needs to dress just like everyone else, and if she doesn't, it's just not going to look right.

I figured out it was when something was really funny, but didn't know if it stood for anything. Thanks :)

  • Really, none of those things bother me.

I see MUD used all the time.  Beebee was just on my local with some OLD regs who claim that they used to post on P&E way back when, but then it's been popular on E for the last 6 weeks or so, I think.

The "pics or it didn't happen" one should go, for obvious reasons.

But, I really don't mind the use or overuse of knot lingo, personally.  It's just part of being here, to me.

  • The only thing that cliff notes does is allow everyone here to give the canned E answer without actually reading about the situation to try to give useful advice.

Because apparently putting time into giving good advice isn't really what we're here for.  We're here to give the popular answer, appear smart and witty and make newbs feel awful.
