Re: :Kiki darling:

  • What kind of bear is best?

Everything the light touches is my kingdom.
  • Black bear.

No really, Kiki, if I were wanting to move to CO where would I want to live?
  • Since this is another kiki thread, just wanted to tell you guys, I finally figured out who the other kiki was. Now, I am not so confused.

I want to come to CO. It looks so tranquil and beautiful. Roxy are youand T moving?

  • Hahah I wish. I dream about moving all the time and so does he but we don't know to where. I've narrowed it down to SF (to expensive), North Carolina, South Carolina or Colorado.
  • roxybabe: For us it's down to CO or OR

  • Well, I live in Denver and I love it.  It depends what you're looking for, though.  Denver is a decent-sized city, about like Seattle.  It's actually getting a little crowded for me.

Ft. Collins has won several awards as one of the best cities to raise a family in.  It's very quaint, and about an hour from Denver.  It's a college town, too, so it's got a decent night-life even though it's not a big town.

Let's see... there's also Boulder, which is a major college town, but it's gorgeous!  Very expensive, though.

Stay away from Colorado Springs, it's weird.

  • I've semi considered OR but I keep deciding against (for no reason). You had enough of the heat too?
  • Thanks Kiki! See I'd like to live in Denver if I actually lived IN Denver. Like a downtown lofty apaprtment (can you tell I live in a dream world?) otherwise, I'd want to rent a house somewhere.
My grandparents live in Greeley and I like it but I didn't see much on Craigslist.
  • roxy: my whole life I've been tired of the heat...and I need GREEN in my life.  You should reconsider Oregon.  We lived in Hillsboro area for 6 months in 2008...we almost didn't leave.

  • Well, Ft. Collins is near Greeley.  I will say though... I'm not a fan of Greeley.  It's pretty podunk and there's a lot of farming and meat factories there, so it smells like arse in the summer.

Downtown living is great here.  I used to live downtown, as did most of my friends.  It's actually still do-able.  Maybe not a huge fancy loft (well, unless you've got a mil to drop), but you could find a place for $800-$1000/month.  There's also a neighborhood called Capitol Hill which is walking distance from downtown- it's a little rougher, but full of young people.  It's very artsy, independent shops, restaurants, bars.  Rents there are more around $400-700/month.

  • I can't imagine dealing with this heat my whole life. We want rain, badly. We were talking about going to Ireland for a year and an irish guy told us not to because its rainy and cold all the time, we were like "perfect!".
I just have something against OR, no idea what it is...I can't explain haha. Maybe I'll look more into it.
  • My FIL just came back from his 3 year work stint in Ireland.  He loved it...and they lost a ton of weight because they walked everywhere!!! No wonder I'm chunky, I can't stand 10 minutes outside...it was 104 today!!!

  • Um, Roxy? Move to Texas, mkay? Dallas gets hot in the summer, but it's nice and cold in the winter. Lubbock is like that, too.

And Texas gets lots of rain 'round these parts!

    Love,
    Jessica
  • Kiki- Yea, I know Greeley smells. It actually wasn't bad when I was there last summer it was so weird it didn't smell like Greeley.

Capitol hill sounds like my type of thing. I like places that have character :)

Kaos- Lucky! It's looking like we can't go because we won't be able to get hired there :( We want to so badly. Today was awful hot, and I have no air in my jeep. Sucks.
  • It gets pretty hot in the summer here, too.  We have 100+ days, but probably not as many as Phoenix.
    image
  • Hmm I think Tex ASS :P gets too hot and not cold enough. We really, really want a bit of snow in the winter and seasons, 4 of them. We went from Alaska (2 seasons) to Arizona (2 seasons) we want inbetween
  • UM...DALLAS GOT A SHIT-TON OF SNOW THIS YEAR.

    Those bitches.

You're clearly not understanding, by living in TEXAS you'd be closer to ME, and c'mon, you know it's worth it.
  • Kiki- yup, thats why its perfect. Hot summer days (with thunderstorms- my fave), cold winters, spring and fall.

Jess- I get it now! Ohhhh

Colorado Springs is a fantastic city.  It IS a weird mix of people (conservatives, military, outdoor health nuts and liberal hippies) but thats part of what makes it great.

  • Betcha can't guess what city.  :)

  • Yeah, I guess I've never LIVED in the Springs, so I can't say 100% but... it is a weird mix of people indeed.  It is pretty, though.

    Bunnyville? ;)
  • I had no idea you lived in CO, east :)

  • I remember now that she once said she said. Okay, she's probably said it more than once but I only remember the one time.

I want to moooove and get a new car.
  • Yeah Kiki, The Springs does have that reputation for being somewhat of a overly conservative, religious nutjob city (thanks Ted Haggard!) but living inside of it you would never know it or feel it.  I'm sure there are pockets of zealots here or there but really, its just a normal city.

(A normal city with a top notch resturaunt scene, heavy emphasis on outdoor activites and 300 days of sunshine!  Are you getting this, Roxy? Plus... shoes!)

  • You want me to move there so you can come steal my shoes. (did I get that right?)
  • One of my favorite steakhouses is in the Springs, actually- The Famous.

Don't lie, east, you ARE Ted Haggard.
