Is it okay to send my save the dates inside Christmas cards?

I plan on doing small magnets for save the dates. Our date is 9/24/11. I was thinking about saving postage and envelopes and putting our save the date magnets inside our Christmas cards. this will be the first year we are sending cards out as a couple. Is this a bad idea or too tacky?

I personally see nothing wrong with it . . my only concern is that they would get lost in a stack of cards at someone's home. However, the same thing could be said if you send them out around the holiday's at all. People get a lot of mail that time of year and they might not really look at it.

I'd be worried about them getting lost in the shuffle.

That is true about them getting lost in the shuffle. I have already personally notified the most important people in our lives of the date, the STD are more of a formality. We have very few out of town guests.

I would send them separately, after the holidays, so that they don't get lost.

IMHO, it's tacky.

I'm getting married mid-Oct (whew, 1 mo!) and I wouldn't send my thank cards and Christmas cards as one item. That's slightly different, but in general, I think they should be 2 diferent entities.

I would also say that unless you're doing a DW, almost 10 months advance is a bit early for an STD, again, just my opinion. We sent ours at 7 months.

It's not tacky, but I wouldn't do it because, like pp's have said, they could get lost in the shuffle. We are getting married in May 2011, and we are sending ours out in early November to avoid the Christmas card rush. I also agree that unless you have a DW or a lot of OOT guests, 10 months is a little far out for save the dates. I would say early February at the earliest.
