Re: What do you remember...

• I know it wasnt an "in" thing but I took the tiny backpack thing a step further and got a freaking tiny TELE TUBBY backpack when I was in grade 9. Oy.

I had two of them, they were a big deal when I was in the 8th - 9th grade.  Being super original, mine were named Fluffy and Hairy.
I remember flannel. I also remember going through a 'grunge' phase which involved greasy hair and wrinkled clothing...why would I have ever thought that was cool?
Posted by number55
When I was in grade 7, Daniel Johns from Silverchair went through a gross stringy dirty hair phase where he never washed it. I decided at that point that in order to be cool I had to stop washing my hair too. I think I went a month without properly washing my hair before kids started to make fun of me and I realized how gross it was.

• I also had 'bicycle shorts' with fluorescent stripes down the side and a bathing suit with similar stripes and a ZIPPER! I can't believe my mother bought me a bathing suit with a zipper!
• oh! Those awful neon color track suits? Like the windbreakers with matching pants?
• Speaking of bathing suits, I can remember when my parents started letting me wear a 2 piece bathing suit in public. I thought I was hot shiit.

And I too did sun-in but first I did hydrogen peroxide with the hair dryer! I looked HORRIBLE with all blond hair!
• I used to think my mom was the worse mom ever because she wouldn't let me use sun in. I now thank her. My hair is almost black also.

• Along the lines of hair stuff, I also thought that wash and curl shampoo and my hot stix curlers were the greatest thing ever.  Then mane and tail horse shampoo got really popular because some celebrity claimed to only use horse shampoo.

This thread is making me feel old!

-Peasant dresses with combat boots
-short skirts with socks that came right above the knee
-denim overalls where you only wear one strap up across the shoulder
-Cross Colors clothes

I don't think I could make a gimp bracelet now.  I was so good back in the day!  I also remember the biker shorts with the neon stripes.

I had a bikini that had overall straps.

• Sigh. My stuff is all still around! I remember I got my first CD player just in time for the first iPod to come out. And Pokemon. But that's still around, kind of. And the Spice Girls.

I hate these threads >.>
