Anyone around?

Sooooo two days back at work, and I now have a 4 day weekend.  I am nursing a headache, and hope the aleve kicks in soon.

I have missed this place the last few days....did I miss anything?

Re: Anyone around?

  • Sorry you're not feeling well, Hockey.

Just did a 'practice' on DD's makeup for wedding day. She is stressed about school and work. Grumpy bride was still awfully pretty though.

Been busy doing wedding junk pretty much all day.

My shoes were shipped to our old house (which we still own) but the forward was still on at the post office. So they forwarded them the 18 blocks from our old house to our new house VIA DES MOINES! WTF? No wonder the USPS is going broke. And my feet are gonna hurt  because the dang shoes won't be broken in properly. Gah.

  • I scratched my cornea this morning.  I've pretty much been hanging out in dark rooms wearing sunglasses all day.
  • Oh no, Muni! How'd that happen? And is it crazy painful?

Muni: Eeks!!!  Did you go to a dr?  I had a student scratch her eye with a wire one year, and she ended up in an eye patch for a week :|

Willy: is it this weekend or next? Getting so close!!!!  I see NYU is obsessed with you...that's fun! :)

I was washing off the last remants of yesterday's mascara in the shower this morning (I wear waterproof and A LOT of it, so I'm never fully de-mascaraed) and while i was rubbing my eyes it suddenly hurt like a mofo.  And yeah, it still hurts.  Not as much as it did this morning, but quite a lot.  I'm hoping it heals up enough by tomorrow that I can go back to work.  I definitely couldn't drive today.

ETA: and it isn't NEARLY as bad as with a wire!  It should heal up on its own before the weekend's over.  With the help of generously applied eyedrops.
  • I'm here for a little while.  We are back home.  I like home.  Chef D likes home.

I'm bummed the Saints are playing tonight.  No chance to watch the Eagles/Jets play.

  • Ouch and I hope it heals very quickly Muni. Sounds like no fun at all.

Wedding is NEXT weekend, Hockey. Just have some crafty stuff left to do. I basically told DD to worry about getting their marriage license since I can't do that for them and let me handle all the rest. She is so stressed, PMS'ing and tired. I think when they chose the date, she sort of forgot she'd be back in school. Oops.

My niece said she'd help with the favors, as will NG and my son. We will get it all done.

  • H's buddy is coming over tonight.  I have come to the conclusion I don't care if he is here when the house is a mess...so I made no effort to clean (other than to move clean laundry off the chair he usually sits in).  Does this make me a bad wife?
  • Yay for home, Lynda!  How did Chef D handle the storm?

So close, Wally!  Do you feel pretty much ready?

I hope it heals quickly too!  Especially since CHRISSY WILL BE IN NC TOMORROW!
  • Hockey, not unless it bothers your H.
  • He did "okay".     Actually better than okay considering he is only 9 months old.  But he is just a puppy and requires a lot of attention.  Leaving him alone in the room for more than 30-45 minutes was not something I was comfortable with.  We didn't bring his crate.  So I was exhausted watching him all the time.

  • Ouch Muni!  Hope it's feeling tons better in the morning.

    I like Chef D.

H is getting his weekly beating from the neuromuscular guy he's been seeing so I'll have a few moments peace when I get home this evening.

  • Yay, Lynda! Your dog is the cutest ever.

Nah, Hockey, that just makes you busy and I'm pretty sure he could tidy up too. Plus, your house doesn't need to look like a freakin' magazine all the time.

I do think we are pretty well there, Muni. Favors still need to be assembled and some little crafty projects, but they are all seriously like 10-minute things. Except the favors. They will take awhile but with help it won't be too bad. I took all the napkins out to the venue today; will take all the rest of the stuff on Tuesday. Then I will have my house back!!!! Right now it looks like a wedding or craft store exploded in my dining room.

  • This will likely be a PR but I'm here. Dad made me phenomenal food last night and tonight and my sister was so excited to have me here to help her move into school. And one of the resident helpers asked me if I was excited to be moving in, which I thought was funny. I'm not sure if it's a good thing that he thought I was 18 when I'm 26 but it was certainly cute. Muni, I hope your eye heals fast. I HATE eye problems!

<div>Like a PT or a massage therapist? This interests me since H has so many neuromuscular issues. </div><div>
</div><div>ETA: I need to go for a while, but if you don't mind PM'ing me about that, I'd love you forever!</div>

  • It's basically trigger point therapy Wally.  I think it's supposed to help in H's recovery from all this Ironman training.

  • Hi everyone!

Lynda -- yay for being back home!  Was there any water damage at your building?
  • I am annoyed this headache is not going away.  I really want to drink tonight, but that will not happen if this headache does not go away :(

Willy: hope everything gets wrapped up and DD becomes less stressed.  I was married on October 1st, and I remember being stressed with going back to work (school) and trying to get all the last minute stuff done.

  • Hey girls hey! Feel better Hockey. Glad your place is ok and you are all safe, Lynda. Sorry NYU is going to make you a skinsuit, Wally. We are all packed for our long weekend campin trip in VT. I can't wait to leave and get in the hammock.

  • Lynda, I am glad you were spared any damage and that Chef D did ok.  Hopefully they can restore power to the area soon.

Lynda, glad you're okay and your pup made it through.  Puppies are exhausting on a day to day basis.  I can't imagine during a storm/evacuation.

Hockey, I just had school for 2 days too. Glad we have a 4 day weekend now.  :)
  • Hi!  I swam for 30 minutes today, then met a friend for an early dinner.

Sorry bout your eye Muni.  My SIL got an ulcer on her eye once.  I understand it hurt like a mofo.

Lynda - glad you don't have any water damage at your place.  And that Chef D is glad to be home.
  • Lynda, I'm glad you guys came out ok!

I'm exhausted today.  Box Kitty had us up at 2:30 (I woke up to kitty face two inches from mine, with her birdie toy in her mouth, meowing and patting my face with her paw), and then I couldn't fall back asleep well.  I feel sort of crappy too.

And we don't get to bring kitten home this weekend :(  We found out she hasn't been tested for FIV and feline leukemia, and I can't get a vet appointment until the 12th, so we're going to wait.  Boo.

  • Hi everyone!
    Muni-eye pain is the worst!
    Lynda-I'm glad you're back home.

I'm sitting at home, having a glass of wine. I'm pretty sure that if H is on nights any longer I will become an alcoholic. I could work out or something i guess at night, but that requires more effort than I have.

I'm so excited tomorrow is Friday. I am looking forward to this 3 day weekend.

  • Oh man J&K - that's annoying - the wake up call at 2:30 AM.  I hate when Autumn thinks the middle of the night has become play time.

Bummer about the kitten too, but better safe than sorry.
  • That sucks J&K.

I'm happy to say Chef D likes his sleep at night.    Chef goes to bed with the first person and stays in bed until the last person gets up.  DH just went to bed - 7:45pm - and Chef went with him.

  • I'm a mean kitty mommy and close the bedroom door so Pepo doesn't wake us up.  Berkeley was much more considerate unless she was howling at a raccoon on the property.
  • I just realized tomorrow is my one year anniversary of moving to NOLA.  Umm.

If we closed the door, she'd destroy it.  Or wake us up banging on it.  She sleeps under our bed, so we couldn't get away with that.

Wow, Lynda, I can't believe you've been there for a year already.
