[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Furidayyy! : Oh yes.  The Holy Grail is just my favorite of the movies.  I also like to watch The Flying Circus, but in moderation.  It hurts to watch that show.  The parrot sketch is my favorite.  THAT BIRD IS NO MORE! Oh, and the Spam sketch.  SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM

The day Flying Circus became availble on Netflix instant was magical.

[QUOTE]I cry every time I watch the ending scene in A League of their Own.  As soon as they start singing the song, I lose it.

<div>Me too!  It's not even a sad movie, but it makes me bawl every time.  Stupid Madonna song.</div>

  • Considering Tom Cruise is what 5'8 (and that might be generous) I just don't see it.
  • Yeah, and really what's so great about Tom Cruise.  He's kind of a joke these days.  It sounds like if these movies had been made 20 years ago, it would have been Harrison Ford.  But I don't know enough.

On another note, I'm halfway through Hunger Games #2.  I made Matt start reading the first one (that I finished in a day), so we could talk about it.
  • I generally refuse to see most things Tom Cruise is in, well, anything after Rainman.  I still have never figured out why he became the Sexiest man or whatever that honored distinction is.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Furidayyy! : Jude - watch it.  It is histerical.  We probably laugh more because we have seen it about 800 times.  But It is good. A League of Their Own is fantastic!!  "Cowgirls, see the grass?  Don't eat it."  Or "If I had your job, I'd shoot myself.  Hang here, I'll see if I can go dig up a pistol." Breakfast Club is also fabulous.  And Sixteen Candles.

On of my other favorite quotes from ALoTO is "Lay off the high ones.  I like the high ones!  Mule! Nag!"  I dont' know, just love it.  Plus it was cool when we went to the baseball HOF in Cooperstown, to see all of the womens stuff.
  • We use "there's no crying in baseball" line here at the office all the time, except we substitue whistling (or talking, laughing, you name it) for crying and dean's office for baseball.
  • A League of Their Own has one of my favorite quotes of any movie:

"It's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great."

  • Duh!  Holly!  You win!

I think I said that the other day about my dad crying at the wedding.  There's no crying in baseball!  (My dad loves baseball and that movie and Sandlot).
  • Aah A League of their Own.  My team constantly quoted this movie all through college.

    Marla Hooch... what a hitter!

True Story: my friend hadn't ever seen a bunch of the 80s movies including Sixteen Candles.  We had an 80s night back in December for her to watch them.  I mean, come on?

    WHAT'S HAPPENIN' HOT STUFF?

[QUOTE]Yes! And the little Rascals!! And sadly? Clue, the movie. I love that movie. I always get excited when I bust out a line and people actually know what I'm talking about. FLAMES. FLAMES ON THE SIDE OF MY FACE, BURNING...BURNING.

</div><div>Clue is the best movie EVER.  It is my mission in life to make as many people as possible see this movie. </div><div>
</div><div>"Ok, fine! One plus two plus one...shut up!" and "I...am....your singing telegram *BOOM*" are my other favorite parts.  Oh, and "That's why he was laying on his back all day!" And, and...I CAN'T PICK ONE.  I love it all too much. </div>

[QUOTE]Sixteen Candles!  Yes!  If I were ever going to have kids and had a boy, he would be named Jake.  Not Jacob.  Just Jake.  I had such a huge crush on him.  I think Tom Cruis is shorter than 5'8".  Whatatool he is.

  • Sixteen Candles is classic.  Jake Ryan is my ideal.
  • The Sound of Music is also awesome.  The day we got that VHS was a good one.

Was it two VHS tapes?  I got it for Christmas when I was 9, and it's a set of two,  Because it couldn't all fit onto one.
  • Edie, I think he's out east somwhere.  Of course he's gotta be close to 50 by now.
  • Chrissy, and it stops right after like the scene where the dad starts singing and little Gretel is running to go do something.  I don't know, but I can picture it.  Our VCR died last year, and I'm still in mourning.  I have so many great movies on VHS.

Like "18 Again" and "Maid to Order".
  • I LOVE CLUE!
I feel weird just busting out with that, but that's how much I love it.
You know how some places have a live cast that act out Rocky Horror Picture Show? Some friends and I were involved in something similar, except we did it with Clue. IT WAS AWESOME
I was Miss Scarlet. Here's me and my friend Shawn, who played Mrs. White.

  • Mine was clearly WAY fancier than YOURS because it was all on one tape.

    Bazinga.

And it has my address label (sheep) on it JIC

My VCR is still alive, but I am slowly upgrading my VHS tapes to DVD.
  • Natrasha, I think I love you.

Also? I totally rock at the Clue board game.  I have a whole system down on how to win it.

  • Oh my god, girls. 10 pages is a lot to read at 8 AM!

Rain Man is one of my all time favorite movies. "Definitely not my underwear, definitely, definitely not my underwear." Tom Cruise sucked after that.
  • Meg, wow you must have gotten it after 1989.  FANCY!!

So I just looked up the guy who played Jake Ryan.  He is only 6 years younger than my dad!  He was born in 1960.  That's insane!
  • I'm working a short shift today, although not as short as my one for next week.  I'm so glad I live in town or these 2.5-3 hr shifts my ex-boss scheduled me for wouldn't be worth the gas money.

No big plans for the weekend, other than at some point we're going to go see FI's grandma in the hospital again.
