This was my experience too. Except that I didn't really enjoy the classes in my major all that much.
  • Heather just doesn't get it.  Counseling doesn't always work, and why would you want to create a problem that required counseling in the first place?

kwills, you are making me flame you harder for being such an aw.  Accept your flame or GBCK.  Whatever works for you, but you aren't making a very good case for yourself here.

I don't post in all of them.  And I don't feel that I throw out party lines without reading either.  Sometimes I do read the post and think "why are they even asking this?  The same situation is covered every day" and give the same general response.  But if it is a different situation, then I tailor what I say to the specifics.

I hated my first engineering job out of school, so I went back to school for graphic design. From there I ended up doing a little bit of that, and then learned some programming/web development on-the-job, and what I do now is currently a combination of techie stuff and design for a non-profit.

This is a lame flame but I don't want the flames to die out so quickly, so here goes.  For some reason it bugs me when people say stuff like the bold part above.  Like, someone's FI likes the same food as someone else's, and the girl says, "We must have the same FI!"  Umm, no, you don't.

Sorry - I said it was gonna be a lame one.  I guess I just don't like hyperbole.

  • About the whole "wasting eduction thing" (way late to the party), but I like to tell people about my aunt.  She got her BS and MS and her JD, and then was a lawyer for a while.  She then decided to be a SAHM for a few years while my cousins were young.  Now?  She's a state judge.  She just wanted to be at home with her daughters for a while.  It wasn't detrimental to her career, and she sure as heck didn't think she was "wasting" her education.
