Custom undergarments frustration vent

I got my dress at Davids Bridal, and got the recomended bustier to go with it.  Well I got my dress and realized that it was not really the right length for me.  The bustier was atleast three inches to short to smooth me out where I really need it.  Because of this I found someone on Etsy who could make me a custom corset.  I asked for one over the bust, which I guess I thought meant there would be some sort of support in it for my chest.  Well, I got the corset, and tried it on, and not only was there no built in support, but there were no more breasts!  They were compleatly squished against my chest.  She had every one of my measurements and she did not realize that I actually have boobs and am not flat chested!  So, I just wrote to her and asked her if there is any way that we could fix this, and am awaiting a reply.  The wedding is in three weeks, and she lives in a different state.  I think I may have wasted $80, and may have been screwed!!!  :-P  This kinda sucks!  Yes I realized this may be my fault, in that I may not have been clear in the expectations, however, I thought I was crystal clear.  I guess that is all in the eye of the beholder.  Anyway thanks for reading my rant!  bye for nwo!

Re: Custom undergarments frustration vent

  • i make corsets, and let me tell you it is a rare overbust that does not flatter you out. especially the more victorian shaped ones. unless you have a lot going on they flatten. also 80 dollars is insanely cheap for a corset so It could have been alot worse. what about a long line strapless bra with a shaper?
  • that does sound strange. i ditto the PP about the longline bra--you might get more what you were looking for in that. $80 is very cheap--usually custom corsets are several hundred dollars.
  • I guess I didn't know what I was looking for.  I needed something that would smooth me out all the way to my waiste that won't ride up on the sides.  I guess I just need to try it on with the dress again and make a decision if I want a flat chest and no belly, or a chest with a muffin top.  I asked for an overbust because I thought that meant the features of a bustier?  The buit in bra.
Anyway,  It is my most self concious spot on my body, and I really want that belly smoothed out!  But I want boobs also.  I asked her if maybe we could convert it to an under bust and I could get a nubra or something, but she hasn't responded to me yet.  Man this kinda sucks!
  • when you put a corset on you have to fluff i.e. lean forward slip your hand into the corset top and pull your breasts up, have you done this ... the best time to do this is once the corset is on but not yet tightened

alternitively you could buy a corset from a more commercial tailor i have had several fallen angel corsets they are sold by waist size (4 inches smaller than your natural waistline i'm sure he would have your size in stock and be willing to overnight it to you not to mention that unlike a custom corset you would be able to exchange or return it if it didnt work out it would probably be safest considering how soon your wedding is if you got a underbust and a pushup bra separately, you could even wear your bustier over your corset if you liked what it did for your boobs

here is his website ... i dont love the changes he has made to the site but his work is very good and i know he is good about trade-ins as i have had to trade one of mine in before
