Splurge Poll

I've been watching a lot of the wedding shows lately, and I was wondering what you would splurge on if you didn't have to pay for it?

Re: Splurge Poll

  • I would say HM package.

  • Honeymoon too
  • I'd go for a cake.  We love watching the cake shows, and plan on getting a big elaborate one for an anniversary someday.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

  • Either honeymoon or photographer.

  • Harry Winston jewelry.... FI and I are both addicted to jewelry.
  • Def Harry Winston...

I hate Crane invites... they are so boring and plain and I went to Crane in Manhattan and the guy who helped me was like half dead and stodgy
  • Definitely the Harry Winston jewelry!!!

  • Just some inspiration :)  I would pick the Harry Winston jewelry too.  I'm a total addict haha!

  • Where the heck is the option for awesome food?

I would totally splurge on 5-Star food, fly in Thomas Keller (the only chef to currently have 2 restaurants rated 3 Stars by the Michelin Guide) and have him cook up a full 12-course meal, complete with wine pairing.

We're both total foodies.  His restaurant, the French Laundry, in Napa Valley is apparently incredible.  $450/person for the meal!  Bottles of wine can go up to $20k.  Reservations are nearly impossible, and have to be booked 2 months to the day in advance.  I got my parents a reservation for their anniversary a few years ago, and they still rave about it.  BF and I agree that if we go to San Francisco area, we're going to make every effort to make a reservation there, even if we have to put it on the credit card.  And we don't do anything on debt, but for that we would!

So if I could, I'd definitely splurge on food!

  • i would definitely go with the HM package.  we absolutely love to travel.  i think if money was no object, we would do a dive trip to the Great Barrier Reef or something like that. (just the plane tickets alone are $1200 each RT)

  • a longer honeymoon
  • A longer honeymoon! And possibly venue; I love ours but if money was no option I wouldn't mind upgrading!

  • I really want to have teh money to splurge and get a late night snack for my guests.  The venue does make your own sundaes and I think it would be really nice...  so that would be my splurge.

  • Heh, screw Thomas Keller, I'd get Gordon Ramsay in.

  • There is an AMAZING photographer that I want and I may have to settle for one that costs less.  If money wasn't an issue though, I would sign him up immediately.

  • I would splurge on a honeymoon in Europe. FI and I both dream of traveling there someday, unfortunately I don't think we'll be able to afford it by the time of our wedding.

  • FI would totally say honeymoon, but we're already planning something pretty nice, so I'd have to say guest favors. I'm not sure if we're doing any yet since we're on a tight budget and whatever we could afford would hardly be worth it. But I would love it if I could do something cool like nice bottles of wine for each table or personalized favors.
  • What wouldn't I do? I think honeymoon is the obvious answer for us, because we may not end up having one at all. And if we do, it will be somewhere we can drive and relatively cheap. Our dream is to take a 2-3 week trip through Europe: Amsterdam, Germany, Spain, and UK. I could die happy right then and there.

But I would also love to have awesome food! Great idea! LMAO FI's dream wedding menu involves Cornish game hens! HAHA! He's so silly.

  • This is a tough one! I already have the perfect dress, ring, venue and honeymoon that I want - not splurges by any means but exactly what I want!I am getting a Charm City cake (best man is friends with Duff) so I guess decorations?? I want it to look fabulous which would be way easier without the budget.
Fiance would say upgrade the food. He's a chef and is designing our menu for someone he trained who will prepare it but he would want more, better, fancier. Patrick O'Connell would be his chef of choice I believe.
  • Honeymoon all the way!  I already love everything else about our wedding.  I'm so excited for our honeymoon - and it will be fabulous - but we would totally upgrade everything.  Instead of a suite, we'd get a private hut with a plunge pool.  We'd get 1st class airline tickets.  We'd probably stay 10 nights instead of 7.  That type of thing.  But really, I'm completely happy with everything.

  • food- if i was abe to i would have had more of our favorites instead of common wedding fair.

  • It would either be food or the HM.....although we're not sure if we'll be able to take a HM right away anyways due to my FI being in the air force.

I'm trying to be sneaky and say I would splurge on the venue, because if you go with the right venue, they can provide other things on the list as well and therefore, your splurging on more things! lol

  • I didn't vote at all. I would slurge on inviting more people. There are sooo many people that I am not inviting because we just can't afford to add anymore. So if I could invite whoever I wanted, and not have to pay for them, that's what I would do.
And the whole time, my future husband was in the room...... image image
  • Honestly i probably wouldnt upgrade anything,to me i had the wedding/ honeymoon i had always dreamed of,the most imp part of the wedding is marrying the one you want to spend the rest of your life with and thats what i did.

  • We are already having my splurge. Ralph Dinosaur is a very entertaining band. Live music and dancing is my splurge while the menu is my FH splurge. We don't need much.
  • I'd be torn between splurging on a month in England/Ireland/France/Italy for the honeymoon, and being able to pay for all of our guests (most of them are out of the state, and all of them are out of town!) to stay at the hotel where we're having the wedding. It'd just be fun to have everyone there!:)
  • Honeymoon for sure. I'd love to spend an entire month traveling the world or something crazy like that and just see everything.

We actually got VERY VERY lucky, because his parents offered to help us pay for the HM since they didn't contribute to the wedding at all. So now we get to go to our dream spot and not have to cry about the cost!

We are going to be doing a week in Paris. We found some really good deals on Expedia so hopefully our bargain HM doesn't turn into a nightmare HM, lol.
