[QUOTE]Oh LC, I know what you're saying and I see why it bothers peoples.  But I like parties :)

Haha, yeah thats my thinking too.  if you want to throw a huge reception style party for your vow renewal, thats awesome.  I'll come eat your food and drink at your open bar.  But I'm sure as hell not giving you a wedding gift, especially if I gave you one at your real wedding 6 months ago.

Hey, maybe these posters are on to something though.  If I just have a vow renewal every year I can get new wedding gifts every year.

  • Oh, I should clarify I only like parties with free drinks.  :)

[QUOTE]The only vow renewal I've been to was my aunts, and they had that because they had gone through some tough things, to the point where they almost got divorced.  But they worked their way through it and had a big vow renewal.  I thought it was beautiful.

I think situations like this and milestone anniversaries are perfect situations for vow renewals.

  • I fully intend on having a big vow renewal at 25 years.  Maybe 20.  With free drinks - lots of free drinks.  There will be no need for presents because by then I'll be fabulously wealthy and will have LV trash cans like the ladies on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.  And I'll wear a fabulous LBD and show off how good I look at 50 something.

That's what we thought because H had a fully stocked apartment, and I had a huge amount of household stuff that I had been collecting over the years.  We didn't even want to register, but did anways.  We were amazed at how much stuff we found.  We did a lot of replacing too, like H's old silverware and stuff.  But then we picked so many fun things too.

  • Okay, what if I just throw myself a vow renewal party for my 6 month anniversary, since that seems about the right time according to some brides.  Even though H won't be here, KJB, you cand stand in for him, and Andy you can perform the ceremony.  We'll do it in my living room, and I'll supply all the wine and food.  Deal?

    imageBabyFruit Ticker
  • Can I come?  I'll wear the dress I just bought for Tarton Ball.

  • Of course Stewie will be the ring bearer.  He already has his tux on.  He also doubles as the waiter later on, and he walks around with a table on his back carry hors d'oeuvres and champagne.

  • I think you should make it a potluck. Buying the food yourself cuts into your profits too much.

So, so true.  In reality though, by supplying food I meant 1 brick of cheese, and 1 box of crackers.  I mean, everyone will know they are supposed to eat beforehand, right?

  • I demand bacon wrapped dates.
Oh good idea Sarah!  Potluck.  And you have to pay an entrance fee.  There may or may not be a fabulous prize to be raffled.

  • I don't need you thunder, I'll have Zeus make me my own!  Ha, bet you don't Zeus!

  • Seriously, I just heard your Zeus thunder outside my window.  I'm officially scared of you now.

And because you frighten me, I'm demoting you to guest book attendant.

  • Or, just have a tree and nobody can leave until the leaves are all put in.  And the leaves have to be money.  Fives or higher, no ones.

  • And there WILL be a money dance.  I mean how else am I expected to pay for ths cheese and cracker reception?

Ooh good thinking! And then you should do a dollar dance. And make sure the invitation assigns a particular gift to each guest. Plus, they need to stock your bar.
