Is it normal for people to bring drinks out onto the dance floor? Do I have a stick up my butt for thinking that this isn't classy?
Don't worry, I obviously won't kick anyone off the dance floor if he or she has a drink in hand. I'm just curious as to what people think.

but I can also see how it's not the classiest thing in the world

What isn't classy is people shaking up their beer bottles and spraying them on the other guests, like what happened at the last wedding I went to.

I do think that it is tacky to be spilling the drink all over yourself, other guests, or on the floor.

And I LOVE your sig pic. I think it's awesome.
And like many others of you said, it will happen, so I'm not going to worry about it anymore. If someone spills on my dress, well, at least the pictures are over by that point!

Otherwise, I think if I've been dancing, I've certainly had a drink in hand or close by.

[QUOTE]And also, while I do not believe anyone invited to my wedding would take advantage of a drink left unattended, I do not want any of my guests to abandon what is a good practice of watching your glass.

Another thing that tends to happen at weddings is venue staff clearing unattended glasses, even if they're not empty. If you're paying based on consumption, that's highly unfortunate for you, as well.

[QUOTE]While it might be in good taste to not bring a drink on the dance floor, I have been drilled to never leave my drink unattended for so long I think I'm physically incapable of setting a drink down on a table and walking away from it. I think the chances of me getting roofied at a wedding are much lower than they were at a fraternity party in college, but I just never leave my drink alone out of force of habit.

Me too. And I love to dance, so I couldn't imagine myself chugging drinks just so I could get back on the dance floor - that would not be very classy. :)
