[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Things all men should know : Confession:  I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've made my bed.  And not because someone else made it for me, it just didn't get done.  My mom never made me do it when I was little and now I figure I'm just getting back in later.  The only time I have done/will do it is if someone is coming over for the first time and I know I'll give them a tour of our place.

This is us too. Our bed is never made.

Men should know to completely dry off when you get out of the shower before walking all over the bathroom. I almost busted my ass last night from slipping on our wet floor when I went to brush my teeth.

It's definitely a cultural thing as well.  I know I would not even dare walk into my friends parents home with shoes if they are Japanese or European.  I was raised to always talk off my shoes as well.  I have totally had the mismatch socks thing happen to me to Rosie...ain't no shame ; )

I will say though, now that my new home has cream colored carpeting and hardwood floors, I definitely hope my friends get the hint to take off the shoes.

My sister's friend had stilettos with a bad heel and it dinged up one part of the floors.  Womp, womp.

I have three bath mats in our bathroom so I never have to walk on the tile floor for that reason and also because it makes my feetsies cold in the winter.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Things all men should know : For sure. I am just really weird about walking around someone elses house without shoes on. Right now I am in my own house with slippers on.  To me there is a difference between go ahead and make yourself comfy and kick off those shoes!!! and take off the shoes or else you can't come in. And I totally get the new floor thing, I have no problem taking my shoes off for good reasons.

    Definitely understand :)

Although, I will say the whole "take your shoes off" thing reminds me of that one episode from SATC where Carrie got her expensive shoes stolen.  Lucklily for me, I don't have expensive shoes.

    Mine too!

We actually had that rule in our sorority house in college.  In the winter when it snows a lot, people got really tired of getting their slippers wet because other people tracked in snow.

  • The shoe thing.  If I'm not wearing socks, I don't want to take my shoes off at someone's house.  How do I know how often they clean their floor?  It grosses me out to walk on someone's floor with bare feet.  And to have people walking around in my house with bare feet.  Feet are icky.

  • Late, but this just came up: the difference between chicken breasts and chicken tenders. WTF DH? In the 7 years we've been together, we've never bought chicken breasts because I tell you repeatedly at the store that I don't like them. So why did you just bring home 2 big packages of them? I still don't like them, so now they can sit in the freezer till they go bad and we dump them. Good plan.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Things all men should know : Yeah, it's really dumb, I'll admit it. You're supposed (according to my mom who told me this when she got me my first little Timex) to wear your watch opposite the hand you write with because it can get in the way when you're writing. My mom told me it looked stupid to wear your watch on your writing hand when I was a little kid and it just stuck with me.

  • Seshat411 - This one is just for my H, but it drives me nuts--how to finish peeing before flushing. I don't get it. Why flush mid-pee when you're clearly not done? If you're going to flush down the pee, at least get all of it.

I AM SO WITH YOU ON THIS ONE... WTF! (although I'm gald to know my H isn't the only weirdo out there, lol)

Wash your hair out of the sink - thats just nasty.

You wanted the hamper in a more "accessable" corner - now use it!

As everyone else has said - take your shoes off, my off-white carpets were not made that color for your dirty shoes... and I HATE to end up with wet socks.

  • When we're in an arguement or I get upset about something, do not roll your eyes or bug them out to the side and call me crazy under your breath.  I will always hear you, and I will always proceed to then show you crazy.  Just because I'm upset and you don't understand why (or agree with why) doesn't mean I'm crazy.

The best complaint/what you need to know about men I ever heard was from a friend of mine (and warning TMI approaching) - it's a vag, not an ice cream cone.  Technique.  Learn it.

Not to sound rude, but I would never wear flip-flops or slippers that someone had in a basket for guests. I can just imagine the germs on a pair of flips that more than one person had their bare feet in eew, if you always had a fresh, new, unused pair I might re-consider. I also hate slippers, maybe I'm a nutball though =)
  • I've never taken my shoes off at someone else's house unless they are family or really close friends. I just have really bad circulation and my feet freeze! Right now it's 67 degrees in my house, and I have slippers on because my toes feel like ice. If I have to take my shoes off, I will (I totally respect you not wanting dirt on your carpet or snow dragged through your house) but please either have slippers or give me a throw blanket!

And I absolutely agree with the cleaning of the sink. I don't want to see all those little hairs left over after you shave. Gross.

Men should also know that even if you're horny all the time, it doesn't mean women are. Back off in the morning. Just because you're ready to go as soon as you wake up doesn't mean I am.

I totally agree with this! My DF always is like oh you're awake! Sex? Make love? Please please please? Um for one thing let me pee first, two your morning breath reeks probably just as bad as mine, and maybe.

They should also know to empty their damn pockets before putting their clothes into the washing machine!!! My DF is a stocker and uses a box cutter at work, I have found RAZORS in the washing machine after he has done laundry!!!

And while you may enjoy eating leftovers right out of the fridge I do not. I would like my mashed potatoes and gravy and chicken from the night before to not be ice cold.
