One of my aunt's was 39 when she became a grandmother (she had her daughter at 18, her daughter had a child at age 21). I thought THAT was young! I'll be lucky to be a mother by 39!
Growing up I had neighbours that became grandmothers at 34, 36 and 37. The concept of late 20s doesn't really shock me, but early 20s just is beyond me.
That's really sad, even more so that it doesn't seem all that uncommon there (obviously 23 is really young for a grandma, but the general marrying and having children before you even reach your teens doesn't sound like it's news there.)
My grandma became a grandma at 39, but that wasn't too uncommon back then (1940's). My grandma had her first kid at 19, and then she had hers at 20. Of course, my grandma also had twins at age 40 (my mom and aunt) and another baby at 41, which means my mom has neices & nephews older than she is...
She's younger than I am and I'm not even a mother, forget a grandmother! That's really disturbing. She does look way older than 23 though. I guess that's what happens when you havea child really young who also has a child really young...
Re: For Real?
