Hi Everyone! My Bf and I have been dying to get an engagement ring but at the moment he just cant afford one. We entered a contest sponsered by Kim Kardashian and the Jeweler Michael Hill. To our surprise we are now #13 in the contest! We have 13 more days in the contest and need as many votes as possible. It would mean the world to the 2 of us if you could help. I have linked 2 sites. 1 to the actual contest and 1 to the blog keeping you posted on everything! Remember, you need to vote on each Challenge on either facebook. twitter or both! (12 in total right now and 15 by tomorrow)! Thanks so much!

I'd suggest seeking out family and friends to help you win a contest. This is generally considered to be spam on the Knot. Some people get pretty bitter and will vote for someone else just to spite you.
I won't, but I'm just sayin' it happens.
Further, what makes you so deserving of this freebie? There are plenty of people on this site who did not get engaged with a ring OR they got engaged with a ring they could afford whether it be $200 or $20,000. Please stop feeling so entitled.

[QUOTE]thank you thats all i wanted. And the reason i do feel as if i deserve this is we have worked our butts off for this. We have been around my whole island and have had support from more people than we could thank. We have been a couple who has been friends since h.s. and im sure each and everyone of you know what its like to fall in love with a best friend. And yes, with the downgrading of jobs, loosing our home, and more i truly believe it would be nice for something to go our way for once in our lives. This is the only place I have been too where people have jumped down my throat. I have never been on this page before as a member and ever other page I have been on has been super supportive. I didnt expect this from anyone. A simple you cant be on here would have been great. So in the end. Im sorry if I offended any of you when I just didnt know

That's part of the reason for the response you got. This board is a pretty tight community. If one of the regulars on here needed help from the rest of us, we would respond with enthusiasm. But since we don't know you, your post is like those political ads on TV, and no one likes those.
Plus, it's also against the knot terms and conditions, which you have to agree to in order to create an account.
Elle- a 22 carat ring, really? Sounds like more of an engagement bracelet than an engagement ring! :P
[QUOTE]I don't think you offended anyone, it's just against the rules of this forum to post things of that nature. I'm sorry that you've been going through some tough times lately, as you're probably aware, a lot of people have been struggling in this economy. As other posters pointed out, you can still get engaged, whether it's with whatever ring your bf can afford, or without a ring. The only thing you need to be engaged is an agreement between the two of you to get married. Elle- a 22 carat ring, really? Yeah. It's absurd. I don't feel like that could possibly be right, but that's what the site suggests:

[QUOTE]I know. thanks for being nice. It was something we entered as a gag bc we thought we had a really nice picture and to our surprise we moved up. I honestly dont care wether we get married or not. We have an amazing reltionship and I could never find a more perfect person. It was my mistake not read the terms. Like i said, other member i know said to post this on the knot. I have posted in on other non knot forums and have had support. I would just like to delete my original post if there is a way of doing so. Thanks

No one can see your original post. Like I said, it's gone. You can't delete a thread, only the mod or the knot gods can.
Edit: And 22 ct is an engagement ring, it's an engagement boulder.

That's ridiculous! I would never want a ring anywhere near that size!
That contest is sooo materialistic (if the 22 carat ring is the real prize)...contests like that are all about the ring and those couples are losing sight of the main reason they want to be together.
Edit: Not all couples, but definitely some!
I would sell that puppy and buy a smaller ring and keep the cash.
[QUOTE]I doubt it's very pretty though. The info page says it's P1 clarity. I would think that on a diamond that big, clarity would be even more important...

If I was a jeweler giving away a 22 carat diamond ring I wouildn't put my best or not even a good stone out there. I expected as much from the sweepstakes organizer to play more on size than quality. The nearest Michael Hill store to me is in Canada, else I have to travel to the mid west. All of the rings are NOT of my taste, to each their own.
