DH just texted me and said "So, I was talking to BIL and he thinks it's pointless to get the insurance on the Uhaul.  So there's $14 we just saved!".  Um, no.  saving $14 and assuming all liability for a 26ft rental truck AND anything it damages in an accident?  NOT a smart way to save money. Do we have the same BIL?

One of the grocery stores in the area had the deep freezer for X dollars and you were given copons to buy frozen food and stock the freezer.  They packaged it as how you "saved" soooo much money which, hello, you didn't becase you just bought a deep freezer and a ton of crap food. Two of my BIL bought it and tried to convince H and I we needed one.

Lizzie, I like the contents of your freezer.  So many delicious things.

My parents have a deep freeze, my dad is slightly paranoid about losing power so the thing is full of gallons of water usually and not lots of tasty meat. :(

  • Oh crap...there are children trapped by flood water in their day care buildng...the owner is jet skiing them out.  The news just showed the building...it's just this island.  I'd be flipping if my kid were stuck in there.

The odd thing is, this neighborhood is about 20 minutes from where I live.

My parent's are stuck in their subdivision...the creek has left it's banks and is coursing across the only road in and out.

</div><div>I hope so.  The fires were crazy last year...I could smell them every where. There was one about 3 miles from me, and one about 15 mies from my parents. A bunch of ranches burned in that one. They got the livestock out, though. It was awful.  My parent's church sent a delegation out to cook and hand out water and wet towels to the firefighters and ranchers. It's an all volunteer firefighter force out there.  I was getting a drink at a convience store up the road from the scene, and there wee like 5  or 6 dually's loading up on bottled water...the store was just giving it away to them.  Ice too.  It was something else.  </div><div>
</div><div>The big pond in my parent's neighborhood dried all the way up, as did the creek that feeds it. The resident ducks ended up in one of the residents pools.</div>
  • I'm judging a neighboor....somewhere in this vicinity.  I think that they have a goat or something. I keep hearing a baaaa sound. I hope it isn't a sheep. This is a suburb, not farmland.
