I went to David's today for my first alterations appointment. First off, let me say that I ordered their smallest size (0P) and it was still way too big. I called about a month ago and they told me it would be about $100 for the dress to be fixed.
I got all pinned and loved my dress until the seamstress came back in. She told me the total. $210. I got all flushed (as I was inwardly panicking) and she left. My MOH (cousin) and my aunt left the room and I just broke down. I started crying because I had sticker shock and my mom thankfully calmed me down. I'm one of those people who like things to go as planned. I had $100 budgeted and being told it was $210 just.... UGH! I mean, I had the money, I just don't like having to pay $600 for the dress and $210 for alterations. KWIM? There aren't any private seamstresses that will do wedding gowns within 60 miles.
This was my first wedding meltdown. I sure hope there aren't more... Now I'm just concerned something else will go wrong and I'll have to shell out even more cash. Did this happen to any of you?
On a side note, I may have just freaked out because I'm graduating in a month, don't have a job lined up, and FI just decided he's joining the military in January. Bleh. Whine over. =D
